Standard convenience store with a microwave and chilled beverages and dry ramen and some hygiene supplies. Very nice attendant.

A better, more useful selection than you'll find at your average 7-11 - e.g. actual consumable items instead of ten flavors of twinkies arrayed on a corporate-approved display. I just wish the place were a bit better lit and more conveniently arrayed. In any case, this market is invaluable for anyone coming and going on the T.

Narrow skinny, and good luck fitting in if others are already at the counter. Cash only, or you can use their expensive atm. I hate that. Just pay the darn fees Mr greedy business owner. Enuff said!

Cash only. They have a ATM that charges you over $2 if you didn't know they only except non-plastic forms of payment.... They have keno, lottery tickets, and cigarettes, and a bunch of other weird things piled in here. The cash register is located freakishly close to the door, and makes it hard to get into the store if there are people in line, to then walk to the back of the store - past people watching the keno board, to get into the line. Urgh. This is possibly only an actual 'convenient store' if you are walking off the T and know where it's located (I had it described to me by three people, and felt like I walked around the world to find it...) and have cash in hand. I can't imagine being in there with more than the four disgruntled people I saw last time I was there. I'd get claustrophobic....

Conveniently located across from the Newton Centre T stop, this is a great place to pick up a quick snack or drink for the ride into town or for those who work in the area (such as myself). One tip to keep in mind: they do not accept credit cards, so be sure you have some cash if you choose to stop in. One thing that irks me is the size of the store. It obviously a high volume store due to its location, but try getting into the store when there's a line to pay. The cash register is located at the store entrance so you've got to battle with whoever is paying. Do you wait for them to finish paying and leave the store before you enter or do you push your way through? You're even more S.O.L. if someone is at the lottery table located on your right as you enter the store. Talk about a two way traffic jam. It's also wise to check the snack/food that you are thinking of purchasing. You're safe if you grab a bag of chips since that is what a majority of people grab as a snack, but a cup of Ramen noodles is a different story. Not sure too many people go in for those and therefore they sit on the shelves for a while. But I do enjoy stopping in from time to time. The candy lined up all along the wall is hard to avoid and I could probably spend hours trying to decide what sweet treat to purchase. The proprietor is a nice guy who is always smiling and makes the whole experience very pleasant.

It's nice to buy a soda or something at a place that doesn't say Walgreens/CVS/711. Not enough little stores like this left. My only one gripe would be to ask the guy who works there to take a shower and use deodorant. Other than that he gave me good advice on cold medicine last year.

Totally small, totally cute little market. Reminds me of places in cities much bigger and bustlier than Newton Center. The only shop in the immediate area that sells lottery tickets.

This place does its job quite well it is a great pre-T stop to get magazines and trail mix for the commute. The people aren't super friendly but they don't need to be. Sometimes magazines come in here before CVS or Walgreens. GREAT FOR: fuel.
