this was the most devastating experience ever, if you want your pet to die go there. the medication was not prescribed in time. front desk help does not know what they are doing. doctors are not returning phone calls.

We were quite worried about ou cat, drinking far too much water, we thought. Advice about what was normal, plus blood tests. He is a healthy 9 year old cat! Comforting to know, and not worry about.

I chose this vet as I live less than a mile away. Just took my new puppy in for her first visit yesterday. Easy to schedule, easy to send previous records via email, got me in next day and they have late appts at 7pm which is great for my schedule. Low key, friendly staff, got me in and out quickly and had lots of options for payment without being pushy. Even provided a free month of tick treatment! Good honest evidence-based medical advice from vet. I enrolled in their care club for the year which provided peace of mind about costs - there are lots of vaccines and spay to pay for with a new puppy - it’s expensive but necessary - and I appreciated having the option of paying a low monthly payment spread across the year and knowing everything she needs will be covered. So far I’m very happy with VCA.

We had to go through an elaborate song and dance just to get our dogs' heart worm and flea meds refilled. They insist on a blood test ($$$) even though the dogs couldn't possibly have either heart worm or fleas because they take their meds every month. Won't write a prescription without tests. We arrive early and ask if they'll take us right away (the place is completely empty); they say Yes, then they keep us waiting as 3 staff people stand around doing apparently nothing, and while our dogs become more and more anxious. The blood tests, which a competent tech could do in 5 minutes, take 20 minutes--and since you're not allowed to be present while they're treating your pet, you have no idea why. Clinic doesn't carry Heartgard, one of the most (perhaps the most) widely used brand of meds, presumably because they want to sell you a brand where they get a bigger mark-up, and they literally take forever to write a simple prescription for same. Almost 24 hours later we still don't have the prescription for flea and tick meds, and will have to make a second trip to the clinic in order to pick it up. They "can't promise it will be ready today." This would be funny if it weren't so exasperating. Epic incompetence.

Great staff, they answer the phone, listen to all your concerns, got me in the same day, texted me before the appointment so there was no confusion, updated me every step of the way and Dan and Dr. Warren had my pup in and out after a days long ordeal at another hospital that wanted to charge me over $1000 with no updates.

Entire staff are compassionate and professional. We've been with them for over 25 years and wouldn't think of going elsewhere.

Great vet services and same day emergency visit for minor emergencies. Costs are expensive no matter what vet you go to withing a 10-20mile radius, and scheduled visits are more reasonably priced than same day.(to be expected) Most importantly, the staff are patient and caring and offer choices for you & your pet to be cared for how you want it to go. I have brought my dog here on & off for years when in the area and my mom brings her cat here regularly and we both like the experience. Thank you.

We had previously rated this facility 5/5, but the quality of their service has gone downhill. Now, they require you to pay an exam fee for your pet to get rabies vaccine, even if you pet had a recent exam with no problems. Their availability is poor, and the require you to wear a mask even if you are fully vaccinated. We had a cat who saw Dr. Ahmad several times for an apparent allergy because she was chewing at her legs and scratching her chin. Doctor Ahmad dismissed this as a “compulsive behavior” never even suggested hypoallergenic food. We wasted much time and hundreds of dollars on ineffectual treatments. If you must attend this location, I recommend that you avoid Dr. Ahmad, her incompetence has already cost us more time and money than I am willing to waste, and I do not believe she takes her work seriously.

Friendly staff. Timely responses to questions and prescriptions. Wish they work directly with online pet pharmacies like Chewy to fulfill prescriptions.

I am on the fence about these guys, having had 4 pets be patients in as many years. It's hard to consistently see the same doctor because they are so busy. More importantly, I'm starting to question their ethics because I'm unclear on how money-driven vs. care-driven they actually are. I get that pet care is expensive, but I feel that I've paid for a lot and received fairly limited results. I had a weird experience where I brought my cat in with a small cut that would scab over, but then he'd scratch at it and it'd open up again. The doctor actually nicked the scab and reopened the cut herself when examining him, and I still had to pay for the checkup even though she made it WORSE. Further, they've given me mixed information thats left me confused. I brought in two newly adopted kittens who already had 2 distemper vaccines. I know some doctors recommend a third, so I was open to that. For some reason, they're insisting that we come back in 3-4 weeks for a fourth, which seems not only unusual but possibly unhealthy? One thing they do that bothers me is that after an exam, they list out in a very cheery voice "here's everything we're sending you home with!" It's not so much a conversation as them dictating to you. You have to proactively question what is truly necessary vs. optional because otherwise it feels like you don't have a choice and suddenly the bill has doubled. When my cat was having diarrhea, they couldn't diagnose the reason after multiple appointments, but were happy to have me back regularly for identical examinations at full price and stabbing in the dark at possible solutions - none of which worked. When that same cat needed emergency medical attention after slicing his leg open, they sent us elsewhere and truly weren't there for us the one time we needed them urgently. I don't think I've ever left having paid less than $200 per pet, though mine thankfully have no significant health issues. Finding a new vet is a whole project unto itself since these ethical questions persist in the industry as a whole, but after 4+ years, I'm unable to give VCA Rotherwood a rave review and don't refer new pet parents in the area. We do miss Dr. Allen.
