I watched the state competition of the Northeast Mountain Shooters there. Beautiful Ranch, beautiful horses and a wonderful competition. I took my dog with me and she loved it too.

Visited the Run & Gun Ranch for 1st time to watch barrel racing competition. Contestants & spectators were absolutely low key with no smoking, no alcohol nor loud crowd-type noise other than cheering for the contestant who was someone's daughter, mother, husband or wife. The ranch grounds & arena were clean, w/no manure odor yet there were over 30 horses present. Everyone cleaned up after themselves & their horses. In an age where there are too many morally degrading activities our children are exposed to, the sport of horsemanship is wholesome fun, family-oriented & builds competitive character in individuals who participate. Lest you forget...that's where the term 'the sport of Kings' originated. Sure beats popular laser entertainment places that feature games where machine gunning 'people' targets or zombies are cool & blowing up computer generated buildings is rewarded by higher points. Ever wonder why more kids are taking out schools across the nation? Are they making home DVDs & these establishments training grounds for reality? I'll wager not one of the convicted kids was ever involved in 4-H or competitive horsemanship. Think twice the next time you need to complain about your neighbors' family activities for a few hours on summer weekends. Their 6 acres could be easily sold off as training grounds to a Boston pro baseball club with nightly floodlights, heavy traffic & raunchy liquored-up crowds screaming during frequent practice meets. Who votes down the national American sport at Town Meetings? That's considered Permitted Entertainment too. This happened near me & now the community no longer is enraptured by the aftermath. Those property scouts are everywhere. The Run & Gun Ranch has the acreage, but it also has the best interest of all at heart. They get 5 stars & tons of at-a-boys!
