“I hope to visit the actual church someday but the center across the street currently being used for vaccines has a group of people who really care!I don’t care what you say, God has some good people in the world! ~ Nettie Mae Gandy ~Today I had an appointment to get my mom (77 years old with comorbidities) a vaccine in North Adams, MA, 3 hours from our home. My mom did not feel comfortable taking the vaccine, she was very scared! So she dragged her feet getting ready and we were 2.5 hours late for our appointment. While we were trying to figure out how to call the site, they called us!We rented a car to go because there’s no way my 2003 minivan would get us there. Not realizing the gas was half full when I picked up the car, on the-way to get the vaccine the rental ran out of gas. 10-15 minutes away from the vaccine site.2506 Mohawk Trail, I mean serious woods but somehow by the grace of god out cellphones worked. I called the vaccination site. Not only did they send gas. The lieutenant of the fire department brought the gas and gave us an escort to the vaccination site. Upon arrival they got Nettie out and comfortable, they were waiting outside of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish. They took their time, they comforted her, they gave her warm shepherds pie after and she had not eaten dinner. The firemen would not take anything from us for the gas they gave us, the EMTs were outstanding, generous and kind at the vaccination site! The people of North Adams are good people!Thank you all, my moms home now singing in her room and can’t stop taking about her firefighter escort and the vaccine workers welcoming her with open arms. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!”
