When we left something in our rooms, MacKensie mailed it back to us. This personal and attentive service was typical of our whole visit. It was our second visit and will not be the last.Nearby activities: Mass MoCA is adjacent.Noteworthy details: It is historic and unique.

If you want a big room in an old house with antiques and modern flourishes like huge bathrooms with big tubs, robes, nice soap, soaking salt and body lotion, near one of the largest modern art museums in the country (Mass MOCA!) this is your place. We had a great weekend and enjoyed the hot tub, sauna and pool both days in the crisp January air. On the last morning I had a long soak in the room’s bathroom tub. It was lovely. The breakfast was uninspired, but no big deal—it’s just food and it’s not what we came for. My only suggestion would be to advertise the wet bar as a convenience, not a rule. I’ve never heard a hotel say you can’t bring your own wine or champagne to the room. It didn’t seem like a hard rule, but it seemed odd that it was mentioned. I understand there was alcohol served in the lobby; I never would’ve brought my own to that area, but in the room? That was weird. To note, Blue 25 has a very big dip in the middle of the bed. I was fighting not to fall in, as was my partner. Had a great sleep anyway, because HOT TUB, SAUNA…that was so relaxing! Thank you for replacing the TV. The first night we bought a movie and couldn’t stream it, but got a new TV the next day.Overall was a fantastic weekend and we thank you for creating such a special place for people.

Called the front desk to ask about availability and the woman was extremely rude. I asked a few questions and she was impatient and very unpleasant. Definitely not a great first interaction with the property. Will not be staying here or recommending to any friends!

NO COMPLIMENTARY UMBRELLAS BUT CHARGE $400/night!I have literally NEVER stayed at a hotel at this price point that did not offer complimentary umbrellas for guests, and I have stayed at literally thousands of hotels for work travel as well as vacation over the last 20 years. We were in town for a black tie wedding and it was pouring and the front desk confirmed that we would have to buy one of their umbrellas if we didn't want to get doused. That failure of service is appalling and can be seen in other failures--no bottled water in the rooms, small bed etcNoteworthy details: NO UMBRELLAS UNLESS YOU PAY FOR THEM

Oh so relaxing…I am glad I stayed here. My bed was super comfy. I woke up late both days I was there as I felt so cozy in the bed. I took a bath each night in the claw foot bath tub and it was heavenly. I did not check out the pool, hot tub or sauna but would next time. The staff was very kind and helpful. My room was very clean and the decor lovely. The inn is close to so many attractions in the area. I would absolutely stay here again.

As someone who has been going to MassMoCA since it opened I've long since wanted to stay at the Porches. You can't beat the location, that's for sure. The rooms are pricey, which is to be expected, but it didn't feel like it was worth paying so much for what turned out to be a rather small and basic room, and one that's definitely showing its age. The bathroom took up more than a third of the space too, which was really odd. The minibar prices are astronomical and you'd be better off just driving to a nearby store and buying wine there, which is what we wound up doing. I will say that the room was clean, and the staff members we spoke to were friendly and nice. The grounds are beautiful, and we arguably spent more time at the fire pit than we did inside the cramped room. The breakfast was passable but nothing spectacular. Overall it was an OK place to stay, and I'm glad I had the experience to say that I had the experience of staying at the Porches, but that seems to be most of what you're paying for here.

This place is living on past glories. We stayed there about ten years ago and liked it, although it was expensive; well, it's still expensive, but the place is nearing the end of its refresh cycle, and shows it. Rooms feel used, not at all fresh and new; staff's a little short with customers; what friendliness and courtesy there is feels forced, robotic. And they have very strict rules, they say, on sitting outside and drinking your own wine, instead of theirs. Well, OK -- the location's still terrific, and it doesn't feel like a chain -- but it doesn't feel like anything else different and interesting either, the way it did when it was new. Yawn.

Amazing little spot located perfectly for a weekend getaway (like us) or for an entire week. The rooms were adorable, eclectic, and clean. The bathrooms were STUNNING I took full advantage of the soaking tub. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options. My daughter and I are already planning a trip back up!!

The Porches were an excellent place-location wise, right across from Mass MOCCA. Enjoyed staying there and we spent time at the pool and the hot tub when we weren't, out & about. Excellent continental breakfast but the setup to serve yourself could be more streamlined. It would help the workers and the customers.I would have appreciated a closet in my bedroom not just a coat rack to hang clothes on and a long mirror. There was one long mirror but it was upstairs in another bedroom which you needed to access by a spiral staircase.I am 4' 11" and it was impossible to use any of the hooks in the bathrooms due to my height. Please consider fixing that?We will come back again. Great staff, good service and very comfortable place to spend some time and oh yes extremely comfortable beds, mattresses and bed linens. Thank you.

Wonderful location across from Mass MOCA and walking distance to downtown North Adams. Rooms are large and nicely decorated with period focus. There are beautiful common areas such as pool and sauna to enjoy! Delicious breakfast buffet. Highly recommend a stay if you are visiting the Berkshires.

3.5 if I could. It’s all an expectations game, as is anything. Expected more based on the marketing and price. I admittedly didn’t do a ton of research into this place when my husband wanted to book for an impromptu overnight escape from the kids - we had been talking about wanting to check out MASS MoCA for a while. But the Porches website is misleadingly. The cover image they use hides the fact that there is a busy road cutting between the hotel and museum, the photo makes it seem like you’re practically staying on the museum campus. (The use of the museum logo also contributes to it feeling misleading - like it’s all part of the complex.) In reality the porches overlook the busy road, the car wash across the street, and the backside of the museum and equipment. Shame on me for not doing google maps research I guess. The walk over could be a lot more welcoming too but that’s in the museum’s control not the hotel. That said I love the concept of the creative renovation and rehabilitation encouraging a walkable downtown. Overall nice execution. They encapsulated some exterior elements in the circulation areas, which is fun and recalls the history. I didn’t explore the other amenities on the grounds or have breakfast, but stayed in a king bedroom on the second floor for just one night. They got a lot of details right: wine glasses and bottle opener in the room, fabric panels on the bottom half of the windows to block the view to parking and for privacy, Apple TVs and Sony TVs. Definitely thought and care went into the conception. I liked the idea of an ironic approach to the older b&b type vibe. If anything I wish they took it further. Maybe edited some of the antiques, mixed in a few contemporary elements, and were more playful with select items. A couple details were missed: the TV cabinet had spindles on the top that projected into the tv view, and that cabinet blocked the flow from the bathroom when open, the shower head was in need of a deep clean - lots of calcification, the mini fridge needed a wipe down inside - some crumbs. Overall though the room was clean. But I found the bed uncomfortable. Very hard. And the pillows were cheap and flat. Unfortunately a poor nights sleep for me.I also wished there was just a mini fridge not a stocked mini bar. We brought wine and snacks and had to do a rearrange to fit them. For a hotel of this level, the full mini bar with nips is overkill. And I’ve stayed in lots of hotels and never had a mini fridge with a lock, that was a very annoying feature every time you wanted to refill your wine glass. The bathroom was really lovely and super spacious with a nice soaking tub. They seemingly preserved and frosted some old windows between the tub and the room, which was a really nice thoughtful design detail, but could use a dusting. Our room in the red section on the second floor definitely had a bit of an ant problem. Probably encountered a dozen upon arrival within the hour or so we were getting ready for dinner, mostly in the bathroom. But an ant treatment and deep clean of the showerhead really is all that’s needed to make the bathroom experience five stars.Staff was very friendly during check in and out. Overall a couple tweaks and improvements and this could be a really nice experience.
