I frequent Salem 5 often, both Danvers locations as well as both North Andover locations. Those four locations in my opinion are EXCELLENT!! The employees are incredible and go above and beyond to help me and my small business.

Appalled that my husband went to get assistance when his card stopped working at the ATM and was approached by whom he believes was the manager and in a rude and confrontational tone asked “do you even have an account here?” I’m sorry but even if he didn’t wouldn’t you want him too! Very distasteful that a good bank could employ such a judgmental individual.

Absolutely apalled by their lack of customer service. I was a loyal customer for 20 years when my account was all of a sudden hit by fraudulent charges over the course of a four month period. These were clearly charges that I never would have made. Unbeknownst to me, they closed my account without warning and told me they will not be refunding these fraudulent charges. I would never do business with this bank again even after 20 years! I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere.

This is my go-to branch of Salem Five. Always friendly, helpful, and fast. Only drawback is that the parking lot is a bit crowded with all of the surrounding businesses, but I still prefer this location.

I was forced to close out my account with SALEM Five Bank, because of repeated attempts to get into my online banking without success. Because I was out of the country (and still am) I was unable to go into the branch and withdraw my funds and then close out the account. Salem Five wrote my a check for the remaining funds (2,000 and some change). I was told the check would be good for a total of 3 years. The check was mailed to a family member, and eventually the check was given to me where it has been in my possession for the past year. I am still living internationally, while I finish my studies. October2019 my mother (who has account at same bank) visiting United States and volunteered to assist me in getting my funds, by depositing the check into her account and providing me the funds herself later on. I called Salem Five and spoke to Camille Inumerables, I provided her with the check number, the check balance, and the original check written date. She verified information over the phone. Camille verified with manager at Salem Five Bank if was possible for me to authorize the check to be deposited into my mothers account (a separate account at the same banking institution). The managers and Camille aka SALEM FIVE BANK confirmed that YES, they would be able to assist. They requested that I write a letter of authorization, and sign it. I did. When my mother went in they refused to deposit it, AFTER MAKING HER SIGN THE BACK OF MY CHECK. I would like SALEM Five Bank to Deposit the money, or cash it and give it to my mother. They ruined my check by making her sign it and now they haven't deposited it or cashed it. They made me write and sign an authorization letter and they verified and confirmed they would deposit it and now they won't. I NEED MY MONEY. THEY ARE HOLDING MY MONEY WHICH DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM. The loan officer I dealt with was great (only reason I gave any stars), but the Mortgage department was incompetent. They screwed up my taxes and escrow payment by thousands of dollars, thereby informing me a year later that my escrow payment would need to increase by almost $800/month! One time when my payment was 2 days away from being late, I got a call saying "hi this is John from Salem Five, wondering where your mortgage payment is?" who calls someone before their payment is even late and asks where the $ is. These are the reasons I decided to refinance with another bank. Now that the refinance process is complete, Salem Five owes me some money (a few hundred dollars), but they have miscalculated the amount - in their favor! When I reached out to remedy this, I exchanged emails going over the math and explaining the total due to me......and now I hear nothing from them for over 24hrs! If I made the mistakes that they have made they would be foreclosing on me! My advice, If you use Salem Five for a loan...don't expect much and double check their Math! Its a shame cause the people are nice and their loans are very versatile (ie: piggyback loans).
