If it was possible to give this business a review lower than 1 star I would. Many negative stars, in fact. The business is run by a guy named Bill. He is a terrible book keeper. Rent is due by check before the first of the month. I would often pay for several months in advance, but the owner would sit on the check for months at a time. That was my first red flag. I contacted the owner and gave notice that I was moving before the end of the month (I had paid for the full last month). He said okay, no problem. My moving company also spoke with him to insure there were no impediments to accessing the space. I had hired the company to move me across country, and the cost was several thousand dollars for the move. Again, Bill told them the space had access 24 hours. No problem. However, when my movers arrived, there was a new lock on my unit. I tried repeatedly to contact the owner , Bill, by phone and by text (which included photos of the checks I had sent him showing payment through the end of the current month). No response. Finally, out of desperation, I had the lock cut and my movers began loading the truck. When they were almost done Bill finally arrived. This is about 2 hours after my initial calls/text. He lost his mind over the lock and summoned the police. (I had already told him in my texts and calls that I was calling the police on him for illegally withholding my property. Keep in mind that I am half-way across the country, handling it all over the phone.) I sent the police texts/photos of all my cashed checks, but they only cared about getting the name of the person who broke the lock so they would be arrested. Police claimed everything else was a "landlord/tenant" issue and they refused to help me. Bill was demanding that my driver be arrested. Long story short - I was given the "option" of having my driver put everything back in storage and basically forfeit the thousands of dollars I had paid in moving fees, or pay Bill in cash $300. I have no idea how he came to this amount, but it included a $125 payment for "accessing the facility after hours" which is another layer of crazy since this is a 24 hour self- storage unit, and this occurred on March 22, 2020 at 4:00 in the afternoon. My driver ended up paying the cash out of his pocket (bless you Beso of BQ Transport- you are a wonderful person and really kept your head during this insane encounter. I'm sorry you were threatened with arrest for simply doing your job.) So now I have no recourse other than to sue BC Storage in small claims court and warn everyone I can about their disreputable business practices. Consider yourself warned!!!
