Saw some gear on the internet, so I headed down to purchase the cymbals. Got a fair trade for the cymbals I was replacing, and the folks at the counter were very polite. Talked a little about the history of the store, which was interesting to learn. I Will definitely return.

Helped me out with a trade in for a custom hand built amp I lucked my way into. Jeff and co. took it apart and did a full diagnostic right in front of me and were very helpful and informative

On this day, I was just browsing. But if there's one thing guitar players do NOT have anger towards, it's allowing for TIME for browsing equipment, and an on-site,on-demand set up spot to actually handle 'em animals!!- Nevermind a squint at a newsprint Manual! The Mill River people are obviously players, but they're specifically conisuers for the quality hardware meant to enhance a guitar player's performance, whether for the whole gymnasium, the whole graduating class, Shea Stadium or just a corner and whomever happens to pass. To that end, the collection of pedals for sale is truly impressive. Looking for the latest of Josh's channel? They've got everything from BOSS and Behringer to Walrus and Wampler. They'll actually stoked to let you sit and try pedals out, noodling on headphones because their goal is genuinely to make sure you buy something you love. While in the past they carried a decent amount of synthesizers and related, when I asked during the visit I learned they were 'pivoting a bit' away from hardware synthesis toward live sound reinforcement and accessories. Really who can blame them as synths represent the more fickle, fleeting, ephemeral and at least one other good adjective of markets, where pieces that consumers were begging for and praising the potentials for, only to have that enthusiasm disappear when a single feature fails to materialize etc.But what they are doing is so good right now, a great place that you feel welcome in! Plus, despite the huge pedal collection, it's nearly doubled by the used case! The benefits of which need no explanation, as even guitar ( although importantly pedals are great synth add-ons also) accessories can sometimes leave you with price tag shell shock.Lastly, they're also available for REPAIRS on many devices and of course tune ups and new setups for performing musicians who just need to get into get out go. Next time you're in Northampton, make a point to stop by.

The best guitar service ever. Jon and the staff are kind and accommodating people. Jeff's repair work and setup was phenomenal. I can't send enough praise for the thorough and complete job he did on my guitar. They are a rare establishment. Thank you all!

In my opinion, not everybody should be able to review a business. ?♂️I stopped in today and casually looked around. I was not stalked by a sales associate, and I felt comfortable. I asked about a minor part, was quickly handed the part "free of charge", grabbed some strings, and cashed out. The experience could not have been more relaxed. If you are offended by anything, ask yourself if you misunderstood a free life lesson for condescension. Nobody is perfect. I'll definitely shop here again.

I came in to try a few different instruments. After I narrowed down the model I want, they dragged 5 copies of it out of the back. Let me poke through them all without any pressure. I brought home a mandolin that I'm very happy with. I will be sending my students here to upgrade their instruments.

Straight up best guitar shop I’ve ever been to. LOVE this place. These folks truly care about every guitar they buy to sell. I know because I have a PRS SE model that plays like it has another 2k added to the price but it didn’t. Just plays that way because there was Love in the consideration to purchase this to sell. It ended up in my hands now I never want to go to another guitar shop again. Also I am way excited to go once again and see what my next endeavor will be!! Sign me up! I live 2+ hours from this place and I won’t even consider going anywhere else in MA for guitars after my experience here. ?????❤️?

Talk about underpromising and overdelivering! The guitar I purchased sight unseen was listed as used but in excellent condition. I'd call it mint and definitely indistinguishable from new. Plus the underlying commitment of the shop, as described by Jon, to musicians at all levels of experience and income resonated deeply with me. Good people + good service + fair prices = 5 stars.

Great shop in downtown Northampton. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Jeff did a setup and some light repair on a couple of my old guitars and my only regret is not visiting Mill River sooner. Stellar effect pedal and guitar inventory too.
