I did a drop in class with Lisa and loved it. She was very warm and encouraging. If I lived here, i would go to this class all the time. The studio is very sunny and spacious. The studio is on the third floor of a retail/ business building (Thornes) and there is a chair massage studio, cute stores and a healthy restaurant in the building (Paul and Elizabeth)-so lots to do there.

Great studio and location with thoughtful, kind instructors. I love Sara Field's StrongFlow classes. Definitely a power class that will help you power through a case of "The Mondays" and leave you feeling energized and pumped. Love Sara Rose's classes too. They are physically challenging (in a good way) and inspiring.

Visiting Northampton, went to a class with Lisa today. The instruction was SO good. She was clear, the instruction was interesting--not just classic repetitions but thoughtful guidance that helped me experience poses in new ways. She is also very affirming of people in the class and has a kind, supportive approach. Wish I lived in Northampton and could study with her more. The space was also huge, sunny and gorgeous.

I attended yoga classes here several years ago (2009-2012). I enjoyed my classes, but always felt the teachers were clique(ish). From what I can see those teachers have left. I attended classes, but was also looking for my community, for some reason it seemed I didn't quite 'fit' in. I thought yoga was about acceptance, no matter where you were on your your path. I left this studio and thankfully found my Kula. But I feel a yoga studio should be welcoming to all!

I am now trying to cancel my automatically renewed membership that I have held for 2+ years. They are not making this easy for me. An email or a phone call should be enough. This studio requires a 30 days' warning and a hand-signed form for the membership to be terminated. Otherwise, they keep withdrawing the monthly fee. I have not been to the studio for 4+ months, have been asking to terminate the account for over 2 months and find myself out over $150 dollars. I wish they'd just stop charging me money at this point. Certainly a bad way to treat an otherwise loyal customer of 2 years.

I started practicing yoga regularly for the first time in my life two+ years ago at the Yoga Sanctuary and I am a more whole and healthy person as a result. I used to have lower back issues but with their focus on proper alignment and core strength I've become much stronger. All the instructors are uniquely wonderful, and what I particularly love is that in all this time I don't think there's been a class just like another. We're all together in a constant state of learning. And if you are just dropping in, you will be made to feel very welcome!

Yoga Sanctuary is the best I've ever encountered, anywhere! I couldn't recommend it more highly for both the technicalities of yoga practice and the community/culture it nurtures. The teaching is top-notch. It has changed my life in a beautiful way!

I live in Boston but went to a drop in Saturday morning class at Yoga Sanctuary while visiting friends in Northampton. It was a beautiful location, the teacher was fantastic (she went around and talked to new people before the class started), and the student vibe was really positive. The all levels class had a mix of yoga practitioners. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in town!

I came to Northampton to participate in a weekend workshop with my mother at Yoga Sanctuary. I have attended many yoga classes and workshops in the ten years that I have been practicing yoga, and I have never been to one where so little attention was paid to the safety and well being of the participants. The advertising material did not describe the workshop as "Advanced" or mention any prerequisites. It appeared to be an "All Levels" workshop. In the first two-hour session, we were asked to practice handstands in the middle of the room, practice backbends, and splits. The instructor offered no individual adjustments or suggestions for modifications. She never asked about our yoga practices or what our individual level was. Feeling that the class was too advanced for me and my mother, I spoke to the owner of the studio after class and politley asked if we could exchange the class for a credit for a less advanced workshop. She stated policy only ("It is not our policy to exchange workshops once they have already begun."), and suggested that we sit and observe if we felt that the workshop was too advanced. She put the profits of her studio above the safety and satisfaction of the participants and refused to be flexible. I would not recommend this studio.
