While I may have a bias as a six year server at the Steaming Tender, I am truly blessed to be a part of our team. My fellow servers are genuinely friendly and eager to learn, each bringing their authentic personality and sense of professionalism to the table. Our bartenders mix and match with the best of them, whether you fancy one of our rotating local draft beers, a seasonally curated cocktail, or a classic mocktail for those lighter days, they'll prepare you a beverage that will hit the spot with finesse, know-how, and a great conversation. Our chefs are some of the hardest working people I know, consistently innovating and executing a complex array of well-crafted dishes. They can have a seemingly endless amount of orders coming into their kitchen and still put their hearts and souls into every diner's plate. And the best part is, our dishwashers work seamlessly behind the scenes, ensuring you needn't worry about a thing. Steaming Tender is fully family owned and operated and it shows. Our management values input, seeks new ways to expand and improve, and strive to create a positive work environment. Lastly, but certainly not least, the preservation of this historical landmark of Palmer keeps our rich American history alive. I truly believe H.H. Richardson and Frederick Law Olmsted would be proud. If you appreciate delicious food, delightful service, and a deep dive into local history I encourage you to choo-choo-choose the Steaming Tender.Vegetarian options: Seasonal salads, secret garden veggie burger, basil pomodoroDietary restrictions: Vegan options, gluten free options. Accommodating kitchen.Kid-friendliness: Kids will love watching the trains go by, the birthday song, and sitting in the shoe shine station. The patio in the summer time is always a wow moment as well. Be sure to check out the grounds filled with antique stagecoach, train memorabilia, and genuine 1915 Porter Locomotive.Wheelchair accessibility: Sloped area in the curbing next to the red dining car, beside handicap parking.

Went to the steaming tender to meet with friends who live in western Mass and we live in eastern Mass, so we thought let's pick a place in the middle. I wish we picked differently. The restaurant is the old Palmer train station that was remodeled into a really nice looking restaurant. We had dinner reservations for 6 pm. It took 20 minutes before the waitress took our order of drinks. She dropped the drinks off and before we could say we are ready to order she disappeared. 20 more minutes she came back to take the food order at 640. An hour later at 740 we ask where is our order and if not ready we will just pay for the drinks and leave. 10 min later the food appears. My daughters burger was ordered medium and came out looking like a hockey puck. The rest of the food was luke warm and had no flavor. The waitress heard me say the food was not good and offered bread pudding to go, I declined. We had been at the restaurant for two hours and just wanted to leave. We decided to cut our losses and just pay bill and leave. All restaurants have hit or miss days since this place has a good showing will be willing to try it one more time.

Too noisy when busy. Can't hear your dining partner. Server never came back to see if everything was ok. The food was ok.... Kinda unhappy when I bit into my burger and found THE LUCKY HAIR! That did it for me. When we finally saw our Server, called them over and showed HAIR. I thought for sure the Manager would take it off the bill. Instead, I was offered a free dessert. Disappointing, but I took it. Honestly, I think they are OVER PRICED. I only went because a friend offered to treat. Otherwise, I wouldn't normally go there. I was surprised at the excitement from the diners when a train went by. ?Parking: There aren't any lines. People just park wherever and however they want. No organization for parking.

This place hits all the marks! Not only is the food delicious, but the building and decor are phenomenal. You really feel like you’re stepping back in time when you walk through the doors. The servers get drinks from the old ticket window, trains still pass by the large, bay windows looking out over the tracks—this place is fantastic. Our server, Lane, was delightful and very friendly. Our food was delicious and we can’t wait to go back. My only complaint is that we waited too long to visit!

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cool, an old train station converted to a restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing. But the highlight was the service. Our server, Sara G, was outstanding. We will definitely be back, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The food is AMAZING. Especially the garlic parmesian boneless Tenders! The service was good! The waitress was very friendly! Could have been more attentive.Parking: There is a lot of places to park, however, they're aren't lines to signify parking so people tend to park where they can.Kid-friendliness: They have coloring, they allow the kids to sit at the shoe shining place, and the kids menu is just right and has lots of variety!
