DON’T ever rent from Hertz!!! Or the one in Peabody! They billed me $249 for a Convenience fee to use their fast lane transponder plus the fast lane fee. There are tolls everywhere in Boston so it’s not a convenience . It’s part of daily driving around here. The Hertz guy told me to call the transponder company and I asked him what for. I understand I have to pay for the tolls but what the hell is so convenient when everyone in the whole state has the free transponder anyway. They never told me when I picked up the car or explained any fees. This is absolutely Fraudulent practice! Crappiest car rental company ever! I’ll be sure to let my insurance know about it. Stay away everyone. I should’ve listened to other reviews on here before renting from them.

One star is actually too generous. The experience was horrible. I booked a mid-size car and was given a compact- terrible! They said they didn't have any other car and said that KIA SOUL was a mid-size. I hate how they treat me like a no-brainer. The price was also higher than when I booked.

I would go elsewhere. Called to say vehicle wasn’t available after I reserved, they offered an upgrade available on site. Get there while waiting with 4 other folks and didn’t get to the desk to sign until 40 mins AFTER my scheduled pickup time only to find out not ready yet. Horrific customer service, no acknowledgment when you walk in, meanwhile another employee sat contently in the corner oblivious as what to do.

A good dealership. But they have not updated the address and it is impossible to find them on a GPS

So I give Hertz 1 star due to the fact that I rented a car about 3 different times for a friend. The car was always returned in the same condition that it was given to us. However, when I crashed my car and went to them to get a rental, I was told that I was on a do not rent list. They didn't explain why, and when I called their company, I couldn't even get a human on the phone. I still dont know what I did wrong.

My spouse got in an accident with the car, so we had to rent a car and went to Hertz, the guy at the desk was awesome patient and helped us with everything we needed to know so it was a great experience.

The employees at this location completely saved my butt over the summer. I had driven my own car to Massachusetts from Virginia the previous day for a family reunion, and then in broke down after five minutes of driving the next day. I dropped my car off at a shop around the corner from Hertz, then took a quick Uber there. This was at the end of July, and I didn't have a reservation. The staff initially told me they had no car. I quickly told them my sob story, so one of the desk staff went to the back to talk to the manager. They hooked me up with a Tesla, not sure if there had been other plans for it, but I was so grateful to have it. The price honestly wasn't bad, either. Staff was super friendly, and they totally saved my trip.

Incompetence and indifference. I had an insurance rental from another location. I contacted Hertz to confirm it could be dropped off anywhere. This was on a Thursday night. When no receipt had arrived by Friday afternoon. I reached out. No response.. By Monday the car was still showing as not returned. I contacted this location and spoke with a Vincent, who figured out that the car had in fact been re-rented and sent out on Saturday. He assured me he would correct the problem. Fast forward two weeks later and Hertz reached out to the insurance company as the car rental was still showing open. The insurance company conferenced in the location where I rented it and they fixed it but indicated that had not heard from the Peabody location, the same one that had failed to register the car's return and then blown me off after the problem was brought to their attention. A few days later on 09/01/23 I happened to be near this location and stop by to inform the manager what had happened as I could not reach anybody on the phone. He got defensive when I pointed out they had problems there and why. His posture changed and He asserted "I'm trying to help you fix this" in an agitated state. I pointed out that the problem had already been corrected, through no help of his location and that I thought he would want to know. I got a quick "okay thanks" and dismissive approach. Apparently the problem at this location is a top-down phenomenon. Based on the service here Hertz would be better off to close it down. This is a company that once sought the Malcolm Baldridge award for customer service. How far they have fallen is staggering.

Don't plan on feeling like a welcome customer or anything efficient. 30+ minutes just to pick up a pre-booked car. I'd much rather go with enterprise but it's through insurance. Ugh.

I had a terrible experience with this Hertz managers. He was very racist, rude, unhelpful, and did not seem to care about my problem. I would never recommend this Hertz to anyone."

I’ve never been treated as rudely as I was here. The guy “helping” me tells me my Wife didn’t reserve the car until March after looking up the reservation number and he clearly didn’t like that I pointed out he was WRONG. The reservation my Wife made on line said the car was paid for and ready to be picked up at 2:pm. A little after 3 and the guy wants a credit card from ME. I informed the guy that it had all been taken care of on line and that I was just there to pick up the vehicle. He claimed I gave him the wrong name because I didn’t include my Wife’s middle name!?I pointed out that I had shown him the reservation number with my Wife’s full name on it. Maybe he couldn’t read? Take a little time to learn some etiquette guys and I might visit more often.
