I send my daughter in there to buy 75 crickets for our bearded dragon. The guy there says "they only eat 3 per day" and my daughter comes back with only 43 which was supposed to be 50.Does this employee not know how to count and not understand that many people buy crickets in bulk because they're cheaper etc. We have a separate tank for crickets and I even have special cricket food.Dude next time someone goes in and asks for 75-80-100 crickets just sell them wow. And bearded dragons eat way more than 3 crickets per day. F-

This Petco recently held a "pet photos with Santa" afternoon. Customers could get a photo of their pet(s) with Santa (an affable Petco employee named Mark) in exchange for a donation to Cape Ann Animal Aid. I was there as a shelter volunteer and had the pleasure of working this event with Mark and the store manager, Alyssa. First, Mark was the best Santa, enthusiastically posing with everything from dogs and cats to emotional support rabbits, and being extremely patient when some animals needed time to warm up. Alyssa was a consummate manager, bouncing between being the official photographer and ringing up orders, answering customer questions, etc. The entire team seemed happy to be there, which is rare in a retail environment (especially around the holidays). I was so impressed with Alyssa, Mark and the rest of the crew at Peabody Petco that I felt the need to post this review. Finally, at the end of my shift, Alyssa and "Santa" sent me home with a cart's worth of donations to bring to Cape Ann Animal Aid. It was such a kind gesture after they had already spent three hours collecting donations. I can not speak highly enough of this store and its employees.

I was horrified. Barely any water in the snake enclosures. Sick crested geckos. Don't even get me started on the bearded dragons enclosures with gross reptile carpet and no stimulation.Dog feces on the floor.This is the worst Petco I've been to.I intend to call customer service. No excuse for this. At all.

Wow. I usually go to the Petco in Swampscott but they never seem to have my dog's favorite treats (Spot Farms). Peabody sometimes does and is the next closest store to me. However, a lot of times, the website will say the treats are available, but when I get to the store, no treats. So this afternoon I called to be sure and asked if they could hold a bag for me. I really don't look forward to having to shop in this store. I went to pick up the treats tonight and the one associate by the registers (Niko, who was an absolute sweetheart!) was assisting another customer with looking up an order. Niko then started to have a line at the register so she told the customer she'd be right back with her, she just needed to assist the customers at the registers. The line grew and Niko pressed a button to have an associste assist at the registers. No one showed. Line kept growing so she pressed it again. Again, no help. She pressed it a third time and after a few minutes another associate came out, loudly complaining about how she was in the bathroom "as is her right to do". Completely rude and unprofessional. Niko explained the original customer just needed something they had out back and Ms. "I was in the bathroom" threw major attitude at her. Very uncomfortable for all of us standing in line. Again, can't say enough about Niko, she kept her composure and was very friendly to all of us customers in line.

Peter!!!! What an amazing person.I went into the store tonight completely lost in what I was looking for to help my senior 15 year old dog with skin issues that the vet has no idea what it is.Peter saw me looking around and asked how he could help and I told him about my dogs sever skin issues.He sure does know his stuff! Peter told me that the wet food I had in my hand wouldn’t help, and explained why. He asked me try a different food, a dry kibble. My dog hasn’t eaten dry kibble in years - he promised me she would eat this new food, and educated me about skin allergies in senior dogs.I knew she wouldn’t eat the kibble, but I’ll try anything at this point.I gave it to her shortly after - she ate it up! I couldn’t believe it.Peter truly cares to listen and give his advice - and I’m so grateful he was there to help me tonight. Thank you, Peter!!

A man named Mark helped me today at this location and it couldn't have been a better experience!! He took the time to explain exactly what we needed etc. I could tell right off the bat when I saw him showing a small animal to a family that was interested too as he was patiently answering all the questions the mother and children had. I ended up buying some extra things even though I could've probably got them online cheaper. Very impressed with his authenticity and he genuinely seems like he cares about the animals and people looking to buy one. 5 Stars solely due to that employee.

I recently had a disappointing experience at Petco, and I feel compelled to share my concerns regarding their customer service practices, specifically related to purchasing fish. It is unfortunate to report that my encounter at Petco left me feeling judged, disrespected, and humiliated. I believe it is essential to highlight these issues to help others make informed decisions about their pet supply needs.Upon visiting Petco to purchase fish for my daughter's aquarium, as well as my own, I was met with an unwelcoming atmosphere. (I have been caring for fish since I was 13) The store employees appeared to judge customers based on their knowledge about fishkeeping without considering the opportunity for education and guidance. Unfortunately, I seemed to have said something that did not meet their expectations, and as a result, they refused to sell me the fish I wanted.When I requested to speak with a manager to understand the situation better and seek clarification, the encounter took an even more distressing turn. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, the manager responded with hostility. They raised their voice, accused me of dishonesty, and made derogatory remarks in front of my daughter. This behavior not only undermined my trust in Petco as a reputable retailer but also created an uncomfortable and embarrassing situation for my family.It is disheartening to encounter such unprofessional conduct from a company that claims to prioritize customer satisfaction. Customers should be treated with respect, regardless of their level of expertise or knowledge. Instead, my experience at Petco was marred by judgment, mistreatment, and an utter lack of empathy.As a result of this incident, I strongly advise potential customers to exercise caution when considering Petco for their pet supply needs. It is essential to feel valued and respected as a customer, and unfortunately, my experience did not align with these expectations. I encourage Petco to address these issues promptly, reevaluate their customer service practices, and ensure that all customers are treated fairly and professionally.In conclusion, my unfortunate encounter at Petco left me feeling judged, disrespected, and humiliated. The unprofessional behavior exhibited by the employees and manager during my attempt to purchase fish and seek clarification was deeply disappointing. It is my hope that this review raises awareness and encourages Petco to improve their customer service standards to provide a more welcoming and respectful environment for all customers.Additionally, I would like to highlight another concerning aspect of my experience at Petco. During my visit, I noticed that there were six employees engaged in conversation at the front of the store, while only one person was available to assist customers at the checkout counter. This lack of attention to customer service further compounded the frustration and inconvenience of the situation.Furthermore, I would like to mention that the manager involved in the incident was named Alyssa. Her behavior towards me was not only unprofessional but also displayed a lack of empathy and understanding. It is disheartening to encounter such behavior from a manager who should be responsible for fostering a positive and supportive environment for both customers and employees. Also the employee who refused to sell me fish was named Gary. Why does he have this power to judge me so personally?I hope that Petco takes these additional factors into consideration while evaluating their customer service practices and makes the necessary improvements to provide a better experience for their customers.

Tall ,skinny, older man in the fish department has horrible manners. I had to ask for help after being passed by the same person multiple times. He was rude to me when i told him i had a crayfish and said it would kill all my other fish. (the crayfish is currently coexisting with multiple others in a large tank)When my mother asked if there was a bathroom he replied with "Maybe look at the back of the store" in the most unfriendly tone after ignoring her the first time. I work at a nearby pet store and pride myself in customer service. Along with the rude comments, many of the fish tanks were filled with dead fish, its 1 PM and dead fish could have been scooped. This is some of the worst service I've experienced, I will not be returning to this location or buying fish from him.

The Grooming saloon is great. Great employees. Very kind. Always nice when I book appointments for smokie. I've had to cancel appointments due to my work schedule. They have been helpful for me. Questions I've asked. Etc Etc. Thank you.
