I had collision worked on here at the end of June 2025. I am very pleased with the result. The personnel were very concerned with my need for my car and did it very quickly, but they did a perfect job. They even took out scratches and dense that were not the initial objective for which I contacted them, which was a rear right fender crash done to me in a parking lot near a restaurant. (The culprit who crashed into me was never found and did not leave me a note to take responsibility. Typical creep.)
But Mr Arace was the most incredible gentleman I’ve ever dealt with in this line of business. He was very upfront with all that needed to be done and gave me a very reasonable estimate for the work. He also did it very quickly getting me my vehicle returned in time for me to pick up my grandchildren at the railroad station in Hudson.
I am very happy to recommend him to anybody who needs collision worked on in the Pittsfield Berkshire County area. I can’t imagine a better result.

If you’re looking for a used car and want to avoid the usual dealership hassle, go see Jim ! He’s a small business owner, with a great service department, and a mechanic who has clearly learned the skills of the trade from the owner. This meant I got honest answers and great service without the high-pressure sales pitch. The entire buying process was smooth, straightforward, and stress-free. I got a great deal on a reliable car, and I’ll definitely be recommending Arace's to my friends and family!

Brought my car in because the rear driver-side door was backed into while my car was parked. Araces did a fantastic job at repairing the door and blending the paint to an almost perfect match. They also replaced a sensor that's been causing an issue with the car turning over for the past month or so and the work they did resolved the problem. Very professional, labor cost for the door repair and sensor replacement was extremely fair!

I got rear ended in my car and needed to get it fixed. I originally brought my car to another shop recommend by the insurance company, but after three months of fighting and dishonest assessments the insurance company totaled it. I then started to reach out and heard about this shop. I called up Jim and he agreed to look at the car and help me fight the insurance company’s assessment that it was totaled. In the end the insurance company still totaled it but it felt more justified based on what Jim told me.
Jim wound up having to get new parts, rework other parts and paint the car. Jim worked quickly, kept me in the loop, and the car was ready in about two weeks. I went and looked at the car and it was almost perfect. Jim and I talked and I mentioned the paint having a bit of overspray and not being polished correctly, he told me he’d take care of it. The next day I got another call to look at the car and it was perfect. I couldn’t tell where the dents had been or where the old paint stopped and the new began. It looked like a new car!
Unfortunately when I went to drive it away the clutch let go and the car was not drivable. I spoke with Jim and he had his mechanic look at it. They kept it overnight (as I came near closing time) and gave me a call the next morning. The bad news was that it needed a new clutch (not related to the accident) but they were able to fix it if I wanted. I gave him the green light and after about three days I got the call that my car was ready again. When I picked up the car it drove like new and looked great.

I’ve had a slew of collisions in the last couple of years, some of it from friends whom I loaned by car to. But that’s all to say I’ve had many auto body shops work on my car, and found Jim Arace to be head and shoulders above the rest. He did exactly what he promised, when he said he would, at a great price, as he was able to restore my car without replacing the fender, which saved me 40%. He promised that if I wasn’t happy, he’d replace the fender anyway at no extra cost (not needed in the end). He even negotiated a price for me at the Enterprise car rental place so I’d have wheels while he worked on my car.
Jim Arace is a professional with decades of experience, who takes great pride in his work. I learned a lot from him because he took the time to explain things to me. He is also kind and even has a great sense of humor!
I’d recommend Jim Arace without hesitation for anyone who has a body problem.

Amazing. Fixed a pushed in right rear quarter panel, painted AND noticed and fixed a rusting crack that was not associated with the pushed in damage. He also repainted the rear door and buffed out some scratches that were on the front passenger side. It all looks great. Fixed the main damage, did extra work for free, and did it all two days before his earliest estimate. Plus Jim is easy to talk to and is very fair with charges. Glad I took my truck to him.

Whatever you do, don’t bring your car here. He charged me $75 just to look at it because I chose to go to a different place in total. He wanted $2500 to fix my car and because the price was so high, he made it known that unless I paid him 500 he wasn’t ordering parts when I went to pick up my car the next day he claimed the owed Him $75 when I did Not sign a document for parts to be ordered save your time and your money and get your car checked out somewhere else

Great experience. From the start, Jim has been very helpful in helping me gather all the information that I needed to know and make the process of buying a car as smooth as possible. So far, the car I bought, which is a 2011 Nissan Sentra, is working great. I am very happy with the service they have provided.

I was stuck in a pretty bad situation with parts hanging from the bottom of my car, rendering it undrivable. Some other places around town were not even willing to deal with it. But Jim at Arace's took amazing care of me and my car! He saw me the minutes later, communicated excellently throughout the process, charged a very fair price, and my car is in such good shape now. My regular guy retired a few months ago, and I have definitely found my new one! If you're in need, I say give him a shot.
