“Took my fiancé for a night as a birthday treat and couldn’t escape the feeling that the property is a three-star hotel in a four-star wrapper. With a few exceptions, the staff seemed like they were running on autopilot. The room was vastly overpriced for the product delivered; this was a value problem, not a budget issue: we typically stay in very nice hotels, and the room rate far exceeded the level of quality and service delivered. At $663 for a night, including taxes and a ridiculous $34 resort fee, Mirbeau ended up being more expensive than superior properties in Boston - including the Ritz Carlton - for the same night. For that we got:- No drinking glasses in the bathroom; there also didn’t appear to be a heat source in the bathroom, so it was constantly chilly- Just one charger port in the room (that we could find, anyway)- Dirty wine glasses- Hair on the shower walls- Bare and loose fixtures, including the toilet paper holder, which is so obvious a defect that staff had to deliberately ignore it to refill the roll- Thin, institutional-grade paper products that were more at home in my first post-college apartment than in a four-star hotel- Cobwebs on easily-reachable lights and fixtures- Dining: as my fiancé put it, the bread was the highlight of a $200+ meal. I ordered a steak for $65 that was overcooked; I sent it back, then the second attempt was underdone...and served without utensils. They did comp the price of the steak, which I appreciated. The restaurant appeared understaffed and the server seemed rushed and unhappy to be there. My fiancé had the bouillabaisse, which was more of a soup with things in it and was very lean on ingredients.I spent nearly 20 years in hospitality operations, and it seems to me that Mirbeau tries too hard where it doesn’t count, and not hard enough where it does.”

“Older mom and pop hotel but very nicely updated. Bathroom paint was well done. Too. Was small as was the cost. Person greeting us was very good. Have good directions. Lot’s of parking. Close to attractions at Plymouth Rock.”

“Great staff, comfy beds! I wish they did a simple free breakfast (toast, etc) and charge for the hot food.Silly that the evening bar is not open yet. It is advertised but was not offered. They need better tp. Single ply??? Not the place to cheap out.”
