I have to preface this review with the fact that I cannot give Herring Cove 5 stars ONLY because I know that it is owned by the same horrible corporate conglomerate that owns Eastham vet, and I see how they have destroyed the essence of a veterinary hospital which was wonderful for decades, and now is a catastrophe. Feel free to read my review on Eastham Vet separately from this.Today I will review my experience with the primary staff, with whom I have had contact, at Herring Cove Veterinary Hospital.Although I have never actually walked into Herring Cove, we had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Larned when she was working for the day in Eastham. What a breath of fresh air! Our pet (Shadow) was very ill and I was so worried when we came in. Dr. Larned was extremely knowledgeable and supportive, while investigating the whole health issues of Shadow, through a very sad and frustrating time. I felt so confident in Dr. Larned’s abilities that I reached out to ask their opinion even when Shadow was admitted to South Shore Emergency Hospital. Makaila (I apologize if I spelled that wrong), the receptionist at Herring Cove, was warm, caring, and understanding when I frequently called for some insight from Dr. Larned. Even when answers were not coming as soon as I would have liked, Dr. Larned, kept pushing me to stay positive and pointed out the silver lining of eliminating some of the worst scenarios. Shadow was eventually diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and is doing much better. I credit Dr. Larned for not only giving me sound medical advice, but also for being a compassionate voice of reason. Bedside manner seems to be lost in the world of big business and I am so grateful that in spite of the fact that Herring Cove is owned by a heartless corporation, Dr. Larned and Makaila have managed to keep the light of humanity alive in their practice.

Hello Dr Larned & the Herring Cove Team thanks for providing Molly Rice on short notice with a wellness checkup 9/12/23. Grateful to Dr. Larned for following up by way of telephone call. Yesterday, 9/25 we ran short of a case of WD canned food, calling Herring Cove Animal Hospital, we quickly learned our refill request was not acceptable unless we booked another appointment for Molly. We understand maintaining a schedule of regular vaccinations and wellness exams. And we understand law. We have overlooked the Herring Cove Animal Hospitals negative Google reviews citing “money driven”…and continue to hold Herring Cove Anima Hospital in high esteem. Long story short: we were able to fulfill Molly’s dietary needs by way of CHEWY. Cordially, Charles Rice & Molly Cyrus

I guess it's all about money for them....even though my dog is in need of his allergy shot which he gotten here before, they would not give him the shot because they wanted to give him a full check up even though he had one 6 months ago in Palm Springs. "I'm sorry, we have to do it ourselves. We can't use their information." Meaning I would be charged for something he does not need. So much for being an animal hospital to help animals...

We go camping in North Truro every summer for a couple weeks and bring my Mainecoon, George. Woke up to him throwing up and looking very lethargic, which is highly out of character for him. Herring Cove Veterinary Services were able to get us in the same day, check out my boy, and get him on the mend all within a couple of hours.Dr. Larned was great- exceptionally kind, thorough, and explained in detail what she thought was going on and why she was recommending a certain level of care. George warmed up to her quickly and already appeared to be feeling better as soon as we got him home. Additionally, they called me twice over the next couple of days to check in and see how he was doing. I’ve never met such a compassionate team. Thank you so much for taking such good care of my sweet boy. I’m glad to know I can rely on such a great team in the future should we need it while we’re down here.

I was on vacation in PTown when I learned of a wound on my dog's paw. My vet at home told me to get seen asap. I found this vet who got me in immediately. They were sooooo helpful, caring, professional, affordable, amazing. I can't say enough good things about them. Thanks for taking care of my pup!!

Lela Larned, DVM had incredible "bedside" manners with our dog. I have never seen our dog so comfortable at a veterinarian visit. Her state of the art knowledge and care is remarkable. What a surprise to find such great care while away on vacation! Thank you!

When I called asking about an appointment for the 2 of us and our 2 dogs, the response was extremely welcoming, helpful, and quick. Our first vet visit went very well. We got lots of helpful tips and a very quick follow-up call about results of bloodwork, which led at a pharma pickup. It had immediate good results to a problem we didn't know we had.

Dr. Larned is absolutely wonderful and I have complete trust in her and her judgement. She's so thorough in her exams and explaining what needs to be known. I also LOVE the fact that the facility is here on Shank Painter Road. Anyone who is owned by a cat knows that they do not like riding in the car. And traveling to Eastham for a cat might as well be a trip all the way to Egypt where they were once worshiped! I give Herring Cove two thumbs up and five gold stars for the doctor and the entire staff!

This place is all about the money and could care less about your pet or you. Requested a refill on a perscription but was told if I didn't come in for Abby''s annual (due at the end of the month not that that should matter) they would not renew. Holding a script ransome or rather you have to pay for your script in the guise of a very expensive check up. What veterinarian clinic could be so hartless and money hungery to put a pet at risk?

Dr Larned took such great care of our little Chihuahua. She was patient and took her time explaining everything. I would definitely recommend Dr Larned and Herring Cove Veterinary Hospital to anyone in our area.

This place puts money before the care of your pet. Needed a refill on a script and they refused. Said unless Abby had her physical(due at the end of month which should not have mattered) they would not renew. Holding a script hostage for money in the guise of a very expensive check up is reprehensible. What kind of animal clinic is that heartless and money hungry?

Excellent vet practice, which is affiliated with the Eastham vet. Dr. Larned and the team that staffs this outpost provide a high level of care and are committed to a holistic view of our animal family members. They have provided continually thoughtful and responsive support to particular issues I've had with my dog. I've heard them take this same approach with others, too. The bonus is that the team here is friendly, approachable, and kind.
