Beautiful store, but my partner was very disappointed to see such little Asian representation in the wares and books. Sourcing items featuring Asian women or novels and biographies by Asian women or about the Asian-American experience would be much more inclusive!
Opened in 1976, Womencrafts is a feminist/queer book and giftshop. Everything in the shop is made by women. Beautifully handcrafted pottery, wedding bands, hilarious and poignant cards, and political stickers and buttons- the shop has something for everyone. Lesbian owned and operated since our inception, our staff is friendly, knowlegable, and engaged members of the Provincetown community. In 2021 the shop is highlighting the portrait series, Persisters by artist Jo Hay. Our book selection is mindfully curated to be inclusive with attention paid to underrepresented women of color and trans authors. Our longterm shoppers know us for our large selection of lesbian fiction, labrys pendants, and interest in connection.
