La Paloma has been our "go-to" spot for Mexican cuisine for over 25 years, and I had a craving the other night. Unfortunately, it is not the same great place that we have known for so long. I am wondering if it is under different ownership. We dined on a Sunday evening and I would say they were at less than 50% capacity. With that I would have expected quick service. My wife ordered the combo enchiladas, which were served without any verde or red sauce (odd). I ordered my traditional combo steak and chicken fajitas, which have always come out on a hot plate, sizzling and giving off a great aroma. However, this time it was a very quiet presentation. They were good, but, not what they used to be. I also noted that they were not playing the traditional lively Mexican background music, which made the experience feel odd, and and less enjoyable. When we were done eating we waited, and waited (about 20 minutes) for our server to come by so we could ask for the check. As I mentioned, they were not busy at all which told me she was not focused and perhaps chit chatting out in the back. I had been looking forward to bringing some friends of ours to dinner there, but, I think I have changed my mind and need to seek out a new favorite Mexican spot. Well, it was great while it lasted.

Consistent and tasty every time. Large menu with something for everyone especially if you're not looking for the traditional TexMex style of Mexican food.

Ordered take out. Prompt service. Felt it was a bit Americanized Mexican food, slightly light but nice flavors. Will come back again to try other options on the menu. What we Ordered was good & would recommend: * Steak Fajitas: Charbroiled steak cooked in fajita marinade. Served with peppers, onions, rice, ensalada, sour cream, guacamole and warm flour tortillas. *Pollo Arroz: Grilled marinated chicken layered with sautéed onions, peppers and served over rice. Topped with melted cheese and garnished with warm flour tortillas and sour cream. *Pollo con Salsa de Napolitos: Chicken breast sautéed with cilantro pesto, white wine and cactus creme sauce. Served over wild mushroom raviolis and served with warm flour tortillas.

The place has some pretty artwork on the wall, nicely decorated. Pretty disappointed at how things transpired. Although the food was good & the server was decent, there was an issue with how the menu states one thing but yet the check says another. I think it's necessary for any extra charges to be incurred to be told in advance & not after you've eaten & the check comes w/ surprising extras. Not sure why you're not told these things in advance, are they trying to con people & think that it doesn't matter or we won't notice? I think it's sad & ridiculous that the bean & veggie burrito costs one amount yet when I get a bean burrito w/ ONE vegetable added, it costs several dollars more. Insane & unacceptable. To make matters worse, when I call & speak to the manager he gets really defensive & asks me what I want; then says he's too busy & has to talk another time. Well, that never happened & seems like customer service here is non-existent. Not worth going to.

I would give it ten stars if I could. First of all, we were seated promptly and the waitress was extremely polite. The food was absolutely delicious and hot. My wife ordered a margarita which she says was the best she's ever had. The ambiance is perfect and colorful, but not overdone. You want good hot Mexican food, then visit LaPaloma in Quincy.

Was on a date and the waiter (owner?) sat us next to a group of 12 college students who were constantly yelling inappropriate conversations. There’s carrots in everything. Parking was almost gone.

In my opinion, this is the best Mexican cuisine on the South Shore. Large portions, great choices. And as usual, I had advanced my abilities with the helpmof the lords lettuce. So also as usual I forgot to take pictures.I had this amazing Chalupa... it was at least 4 inches tall of chicken, cheese, and their tasty red sauce... ?My wife, she had her usual shredded beef Encinitas... she loves this so much. It's her favorite this on the menu. Aside from their Ultimate Margarita's which as an FYI... You can get to go... you just need to ask for a Margarita to go. You can get a 16 oz of a 32oz.When you go in, tell them Charles (the guy with the Bruins Porkpie hat) sent you... it won't get you anything. But... I'd love to hear their reaction to it.Parking: Be careful pulling in and out of the parking lot. This is on Newport Avenue in Quincy. People drive that road like idiots.

I have been going to La Paloma a long time, used to live in the area - occasionally get take out now due to the drive to get there. First, there is no great Mexican food in Massachusetts - if you are looking for San Diego or Arizona Mexican you're going to be disappointed. However, this food is fantastic. Servers and staff are awesome and their drinks are spot on!!

Unfortunately this was not a great Mexican experience. Should've walked when the salsa came - had shredded carrots in it and tasted like canned tomatoes. Not great. When the food came out, everyone's beans tasted like canned beans, but had been sitting so long under a heat lamp that they had those hard and dry spots. Also anything with cheese literally had Colby jack sprinkled on it. For the actual entrees, they were not as big as expected for the prices. The fish tacos were just a slice of fish sitting on a tortilla, with a tiny bit of mango. We got charged $4 for more mango salsa when it was supposed to be on the tacos normally. Seems like they might have a lot of regulars, just beware if you are a tourist or looking for decent mexican food. The service was alright, got a couple refills but food took a really long time to come out. The restaurant looks pretty nice, but the table we sat at totally sucked. The bottom twisted around and hit people's feet, and the whole thing was wobbly.
