It is the only Stop & Shop in the area and further that has cheaper prices for virtually everything. Hingham, South Bay (Dorchester), Freeport St. (Dorchester), Weymouth, Southern Artery (Quincy), Whitman, Abington... they are ALL equally more expensive for the same kinds of products/groceries (unless it's on sale, then it's the same price everywhere).
Example: All Ice Cream - i.e. Breyers Ice Cream @ North Quincy: $3.99, @ All Others (listed above): $4.99. Jimmy Dean Lean Breakfast Sandwiches @ NQ: $6.99, @ Others: $7.99. Same thing with Crackers, Protein/Breakfast Bars, Chips, Popcorn, etc...
The selection and availability of products are also pretty decent. Not quite as good as Southern Artery and I often need to bounce around to 2 or 3 different stores in order to find a specific variety of food that used to be at NQ regularly, but hasn't been restocked for typically several months at a time. (Despite efforts to inform them of this).
Tons of self-check outs too. And always has plenty of their different reusable bags available. (Hingham, for example, is constantly out of them).
They also sell alcohol at NQ. Others do too, but not all. Boston stores do not.

I recently purchased figs from Stop & Shop, and upon cutting them open, I discovered mold and bacteria in the center. This is a serious health hazard. What if someone had eaten them whole without checking? It's unsettling to think about the potential health consequences. I'm very disappointed by this experience and the apparent lack of quality control at Stop & Shop.

Very disappointed. Today I used their delivery service. The order should have turned up between 2 and 4 pm. Got a call saying that he would be late. Turned up at 4:30. Usually delivery drivers take a photo. He did not. I began to put it away when I noticed that all frozen items but 3 were missing. I called customer care and she said that I would get a refund. I didn't want one. I wanted the items.
Customer service rushed me through the process and when I hung up and hours later I was going to put the pork roast into the slow cooker. That was missing as well, and I felt uncomfortable calling again about it.
Just to clarify. It's a convenient service. But how could that be if 44$ out of 116$ isn't included? It seems that the driver simply left a bag behind, as all the items are frozen. Company policy says that the driver couldn't just bring the missing bag. I'm very disappointed.

Staffing consists of one overburdened cashier and a bunch of self-checkout lanes. If you need help finding something you are out of luck since there are no employees. Bad produce, ever-rising prices. Still a busy store due to lack of competition. The Newport Ave. Stop and Shop is a dystopian hellscape that late stage capitalism hath wrought.

I am reaching out to express my concerns regarding a recent experience I had with one of the cashier, as a young customer, I was disappointed by the lack of respect and patience shown to me during our interaction. The cashier’s approach made me feel undervalued simply because of my age.
It’s important for any business, especially one with a diverse customer base, to ensure that all customers—regardless of their age—are treated with respect. Positive interactions with younger customers create a welcoming atmosphere and foster loyalty, not just from the child but from families who appreciate thoughtful service.
I encourage your team to emphasize in training the importance of treating all customers with courtesy and respect, regardless of age. A small shift in approach can go a long way in creating a positive experience for everyone involved.
Thank you for considering this feedback. I hope it helps improve future customer interactions, ensuring all visitors feel valued and respected at your store. (I left 2 stars because I am a good person) Also not all employees are rude I’ve met kind ones too.

I can't believe the blatant discrimination by the employees at this place. First time I was verbally and rudely treated by an employee in a grocery! This rude old woman with short hair in the self-checkout area whose name starts with K has even worked here for over ten years. It's a novel experience for an employee to verbally abuse a consumer to their face
