“I have been going to Gowell’s since I was a child. The homemade candy is incomparable to any other company. When John Wayne was at Mass General Hospital he used to send people to Gowell’s to buy it for him. Go to Gowell’s and treat yourself!!”
“I wanted to send McCrea's Advent calendar filled with candies to my daughter. It was recommended in the New York Times in October, and I was afraid they might run out, but it was way too early to send the calendar. I contacted the company, and a wonderful, kind sales rep replied promptly and said I could pay for it then, and she would hold the calendar until right before Advent started. She was true to her word, and my daughter loves the candies!
Then I noticed that my credit card showed a higher amount than the invoice I had received. I contacted the woman again, and she passed me on to the shipping manager. She also replied quickly and said it was a shipping charge, but she refunded it. She said that the company had changed the threshold at some point in the season to offer free shipping for Advents. HadI ordered later in the season there would have been no shipping charge, and she thought I shouldn’t be punished for ordering early!
