THIS is 5 stars for Jefferlina. I already have a debit card and bank account open and connected to my direct deposit through Chime Banking but a BIG company approached me for a business offer on a video game and I wanted to open up a new account just to be safe. I went to Eastern Bank to open up a checking account and the process was quick and easy and Jefferlina handed it all and more for me. She helped me with my paperwork for the company and also had some great recommendations for working with companies moving forward. Thank you Jefferlina again for your help!
This is my one complaint and why I did NOT give 5 stars. The following statement is NOT regarding Jefferlina. Another woman, older white woman with short brown hair came up to “assist” Jefferlina and I. She asked me intruding questions like why I haven’t changed my name legally as I wanted help adding an “Alias Name”. I was taken back because frankly, It does not concern her. She kept making conversation about my name making me super uncomfortable and straying away from completing my paperwork. After she moved on from questioning me she proceeded to doubt my reasoning for coming in, not warning me but doubting my ability to work with a big company. I can tell concern from doubt and the conversation continued to get worse. She blamed games like “fortnite” for school shootings, I was absolutely mind blown that she was bringing up statements like this and Jefferlina looked JUST as shocked as I. She said , I quote “This is why all the school shootings are happening… Life imitates art.” It was very uncomfortable and completely inaccurate but that isnt even a conversation someone at the bank should be having with me. Completely unprofessional in my opinion.

Hands down the worst bank in history. Always a problem, always a hold time of 3 hours or more, when you finally get through they are all unable to complete a task with out someone else’s approval that never seem to be there and there is always a call back needed. They take it upon themselves to close down accounts if there has been no activity in 90 days, where does that money go in your account. Online banking is always disabled or in for fixing. I live states away from the closest bank and I have had this bank for years before I moved years ago. I would never recommend this bank to anyone. A couple years ago my bank account was hacked… it took 6 months to resolve this issue and get my money back. They don’t back you as a customer and it doesn’t appear like they want to keep there customers. There’s no question in my head as to why several branches have closed. You want issues with your banking please sign up for Eastern Bank.

Very bad customer service and the worst customer care that I ever seen in any branch, their closing time according to the bank hours and according to the internet is that on wenesday they’re open from 9 to 5 but I arrived at the branch that is located in the congress st, Salem ma at 4:25 it seems that they’re closing before the closing hour and when they notice me (two employee girls), I could see that they say something between each other then laughing and ran inside the bank Cause they were doing something in the atm that is inside, very bad experience regarding this experience because I need some documents and because of this I couldn’t have on time and delay my process, i would never ever recommend this branch to any of my friend or relatives.

This particular branch of Eastern is fabulous!Started using them when the Loring Avenue branch closed and have never looked back. To say that they have gone the extra mile, especially during the pandemic, is an understatement. I could not believe that they actually reached out to me personally to complete paperwork for business pandemic assistance. Kristen Armstrong and Cheryl Albo have been absolute life savers and are shining examples of consistently providing SUPERIOR customer service for my small business. Add Adam D. and Sean into the mix and these people are part of a capable, reliable and genuinely caring team. If you are a small business owner seeking fabulous service, see Cheryl or Kristen. They will never, ever let you down!

We worked with assistant branch manager Cheryl Albo in the spring to help resolve some money transfer issues we were having when trying to purchase a home out of state. We were under extreme stress and an impossible deadline to get the funds where they belonged and Cheryl was an excellent resource. We could not have done it without her...she was AMAZING!

one of the worst banks around. I have had eastern bank for about 9 years and ever since moving to Salem, it's been a nightmare. They have misplaced my check, twice. Recently they cancelled my debit card (for suspected fraud) without contacting me or letting me know which created all sorts of issues. Especially during the pandemic, you would think they would do more to help people stay on top of their accounts. Disappointment, go to any of the other locations in the area if you have a choice.

I was at the coin counter machine yesterday not really sure how to use, your associate Adam was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant and explained that I could dump the entire bag into machine rather then putting in a little at a time and the machine would automatically reject the dollar and half dollar coins. He is to be commended

Went in to deposit money into the atm, and the machine miscounted at least 3 times. It was off by 20 dollars. Make sure you always count the money you are depositing and pay attention to the amount at the end of the transaction. If I had just done it quick and not fully paid attention I would have been out that money even if it was just 20 dollars... Machines make mistakes just like humans..
