After living here for 1.5 years, I would not recommend this property to anyone. Unfortunately the property management seems to have been very overwhelmed, understaffed, and mis-staffed, which leads to many property quality issues and lack of reliable support. I could write up a 1,000 word essay on why this property is not worth the "luxury" pricing, but in short - I dealt with CONSTANT pests (bugs, mice), un-safe conditions (homeless people living in vacant units), and unreliable management (no way to contact anyone in the office, billed double my rent one month, took 2 months to pay us back). We needed to leave for our mental sanity at the end. If you are debating moving into this place, please keep looking.

Update 10/10Here are additional things you should know:- no ability to buzz people in. so you either have to go downstairs to let them in, or share the code which you're "not supposed to do". Was told they were updating the system but other residents say that management has been saying that for a long time with no action.- some external building doors that don't latch shut unless you hold there for 10 seconds- no emergency maintenance- very few guest parking spots (ppl use them for “free” parking, no recourse)- not enough bike spots in the bike room- no security- paper thin everything. Want to hear your neighbor’s a normal-volume conversation? Upstairs neighbors wear shoes inside? Someone outside talking? Neighbor flushes a toilet? You’ll hear it all.- VERY drafty and poor quality windows and doors. My windows come straight out of the fixture whenever I try to open/ close them. My patio door has about a centimeter gap to the ground.UPDATE 10/3:Don't let the newly painted exterior and nice landscaping fool you. Kitchen cabinetry is falling apart, no soundproofing and its literally in the lot of the train, rusty low-quality appliances, leaking ceiling causing electrical damage and an unusable bathroom, poorly filled holes in the wall, misaligned doors, an alarming trend of squatters in the buildings, a leak that damaged the "gym" with holes in the ceiling for weeks AND ruined people's homes, a nasty trash situation that is only 1 dumpster for the entire complex that seems to have pick up 1x a week, and all with a total lack of communication from management. They're totally understaffed and I don't even know who to call when there are emergencies besides the police. Wish someone had written this review for me when I was applying so I could stay away. The best part is the location, honestly, which is great because you can go somewhere quickly when you want to get out of the apartment you can't fully use.Original Post:Just moved in and it’s been really disappointing. Like other recent reviews, it was way too difficult to have basic communication with the agents. Even before applying, the “associate” who I texted with couldn’t tell me anything about the unit I was interested in (square footage, location in the building). It took 2 weeks to hear from mgmt after submitting our application and calling/emailing multiple times to get an acceptance. Then some of the info they give in the welcome package is outdated and the payment site doesn’t property post the rent bill (we got some whacky requests to pay via a certified check at a 7/11 ??). It’s like they don’t know how to move in new tenants. We started our lease on a Sunday and they didn’t leave keys as they said they would, there are missing fixtures and a leak in a room. They never gave us our Amazon locker code nor guest access codes. The emergency maintenance number doesn’t pick up and there’s no other way to call property management, which is really concerning.I hope it’s just a fluke and we moved in at the wrong time. I’ll update my review as the building has a chance to rectify the issue, but right now it’s not been a warm welcome.4 stars for location, 3 stars for apartment layout and storage, 2 stars for amenities, 1 star for move-in process, 1 star for quality

There is a huge issue with package theft at Sofi Station with no action from upper management to help resolve this for tenants. We have personally had hundreds of dollars worth of items stolen in the last year and there has been no solution despite multiple requests for help. Would only recommend moving here if you don’t ever order packages or if you don’t care if your items are regularly stolen. Attached a recent photo of packages ripped open in plain sight and items taken.

Packages in the mail room are being ripped open and items stolen. Management is aware of this situation yet they have done nothing to rectify it. Residence have been begging them to change the lock codes and install surveillance cameras in the mail rooms but it has fallen on deaf ears.

I was a resident at Sofi. From the day I moved in, the public door used for residents to enter the building was malfunctioning and slamming my bedroom wall. This caused sleep disturbances every time a resident entered or left the building. I have a severe auto-immune disease and having interrupted sleep was detrimental to my health. I stressed this to Kaitlyn in particular and throughout my 1.5 year lease, the door was "fixed" then would break days later, slamming again. I asked to move units and was declined that option. Then a few months after moving in, my apartment became infested with mice. The mice were leaving droppings all over my furniture nightly. Maintenance left traps, never caught them. Months later, after complaining, pest control got involved and laid the same traps while never catching the mice. So I lived in disgust until my lease ended. During this time, I was bribed by Kaitlyn with a discount of $500 to delete my negative review and change it into a positive one. I also never heard from mgmt until I did have to leave a bad review. Now that I no longer live there, at Sofi with the mice infested apartment with a broken slamming door scaring me awake, I feel the public should know the truth. They also sent me a final bill that I will not be paying as they should pay me for paying $2500 per month for all of the months that I had to live in a health hazard and had sleepless nights.

Overpriced apartments with increasingly worse communication from the office team as the property rolls through varying owners. The only reason I rate so high is for location.Expect higher rent and the property to be sold again soon with all of the external work happening at the site.

Prospective Tenants Beware.Sofi leasing lacks adequate and efficient communication. In addition, Sofi does not conduct business in good faith and fair dealing. An associate's application was submitted mid August. Sofi did not return any information regarding the application approval and lease terms until just before Labor Day weekend. The Leasing Office regurgitates the same manufactured ambiguous information whenever questioned.Sofi does not return phone calls unless you have called them at least five times, left a minimum of three messages, plus numerous emails. When some human does respond, they say "I don't know, but I will ask my manager." Ultimately, nothing gets answered, and there is repetitive process all over agin for answers. In order to get a lease from this company it took calling Sofi Danvers location. To save you some time I'll tell you right now that the lease terms in the addendums are problematic to all potential tenants, and current tenants. Ask them for a draft of the lease before paying the $500 application fee, and see if they will negotiate terms of lease agreement. The agents of this organization speak as if they know the law, however, it is clear that they do not. There are various terms within the lease agreement that contradict, and violate the Massachusetts general law. When the terms were brought to the leasing companies, attention, they refuse to negotiate in good faith and fair, dealing in regards, to amending the terms of the lease, so that it is applicable and favorable to both part.To give a better example, I have posted pictures of the prospective lease terms that any new tenant and prospective tenant should be aware of before signing a lease agreement with this company. It is in every prospective tenants best interest to have an attorney review the lease and negotiate with this leasing company before you sign the agreement. As the lease agreement is a legally binding document, no person(s) should sign such a contract, that overtly favors a conglomerate, and leaves tenant with no adequate recourse. The lease agreement terms violate the Mass Consumer Protection laws, and Massachusetts General Laws by direct contradiction and as a matter of public policy. When lease terms amendments are requested, Sofi agent/Property Manager JoAnna reverts to petty insults and inappropriate authority statements. The claimed Property Manager JoAnna stated, "If you like the place, then just sign the lease. I'm concerned about having you as a tenant because you're asking for lease term changes. This makes me think you're going to try to sue us every month." JoAnna, proceeded to state, "Because of Fair Housing laws we're unable to amend the terms of the lease agreement." However JoAnna is wrong, and what she didn't know was that someone with a legal background .What Property Managers JoAnna and Jeff do not realize is, they contradict the terms of Sofi's lease agreement. This should be a major red flag for any prospective tenant. A good example of this is there, photo addendum which states that it is optional to sign, yet Jeff and JoAnna insist that the addendum must be signed or the lease agreement cannot go through. The lease states to have a representative attorney review the lease agreement before signing, yet when prospective tenants then seek to negotiate to have a few terms amended per legal recommendation, the Property Managers refuse to negotiate in good faith and fair dealing as required by M. G. L.; Mass Landlord - Tenant Law; and Mass Consumer Protection.Remember that the leasing team at Sofi office is NOT your friend. Those individuals are there to get your money by any means. The agents do not perform for tenant's and prospective tenant's benefit, nor do they have your best interest in mind.

I have an upcoming lease starting on 9/18 and it’s been impossible to speak to someone in the leasing office. All phone numbers just go to the automated machine and when I leave a message, no one returns my call. Can someone from the team please reach out to me as my move in date is 2 weeks away

This place is awful. If you put in a maintenance request, they close it without dealing with the problem. The buildings are run down. The rent is high. There are ants and drain flies, so you'll buy ant traps and fly traps, but you'll never solve the fly problem. The apartments are dark. The walls are that horrible bumpy plaster stuff you find in a 1- or 2-star motel. The refrigerators are Barbie-sized (ok, they are "apartment" sized according to the industry). The balconies are diiiisgusting, like they have never been cleaned. Run, don't walk, away!

A new maintenance man by the name of Ricardo is an asset to the team. He is fabulous. Professional, Personable and knowledgeable.I had a request in for 2 old blinds to be replaced. He did that and came back and replaced my other two old blinds. If you have a repair problem ask for Ricardo you will not be disappointed.

This review is for Nick and Ricky on the maintenance team. After much back-and-forth with the office around needing to have someone come over and look at my dryer, I was finally able to get this issue addressed. They are currently working through a large backlog of maintenance requests due to some personnel turnover, and I appreciated Nick's attention to getting to my issue as soon as he heard about it. He and Ricky worked diligently over the course of a couple of afternoons to resolve this for me. Nick also fixed the bottom of my front door after he finished working on my dryer. This was not something I asked him to do, yet he cared enough to fix it anyway. I appreciate the fact that he really cares.

I had an issue with my kitchen sink faucet. The swivel was broken. Maintenance tech Nick Circiello replaced the faucet with a newer type very quickly. While he was here he also lubricated the rubber seals on my fridge so the doors would stay closed better and he also changed the dishwasher door springs so it would stay closed. Thanks Nick for all your hard work!

Sofi is the best apartment complex we have ever lived in! We moved to Salem two years ago from NYC and we are so pleased we ended up at Sofi. From the beginning, Kaitlin was so helpful and informative, and made us feel right at home. The whole team is great - Kaitlin, Crystal, and the maintenance team. The complex is truly prime location, an easy quick walk to downtown Salem but away from the crowds in October. The complex has a nice pool, gym, fire pit and movie room. What more could you ask for? We truly love living here!
