Great book binding class. Excellent instruction... and high quality materials. Store has very Salem centric classes and products for everyone to enjoy. Sometimes I'm hesitant to sign up for classes since I would not consider myself "Artsy".. but, the class was taught in a way that I was able to follow along with ease, use the tools , and produce a great book. One of the best classes I've been to in the area.

TLDR: Don't trust that your paid deposit + confirmation actually mean that your workshop will take place - have backup plans in pocket.Nice shop, but ***cannot*** recommend their workshops. We've visited in November in past years as walk-ins and each time their broom making & book binding sessions were booked - which is understandable. This time , we planned ahead better and booked (and gave a $50 deposit) for their book-binding session on-line (and received confirmation thereof) well beforehand. This was to be *** the highlight of my teens birthday visit to Salem***. Unfortunately, late on Thanksgiving evening, mere hours before our session at 10:30 the next morning, The Witchery advised us that our session was cancelled. (But of course, had WE cancelled less than 24 hours before, we would've lost our $50 deposit - which makes this extra aggravating).Allegedly, the shop didn't have enough participants. Yet when we visited the shop (just to shop) at the same time as our previous session time, there was just one person with a guest working on a broom in the workshop area. And it's not like that participant was waiting for others to show - they were clearly in the middle of crafting their broom, and as the website states, if you're late for your workshop, "we cannot start over for you." So much for "not enough participants" for a session. And, had we known earlier in the week, we could've made alternate arrangements to try to find/ book a class elsewhere for this special birthday treat for our kid. But with only 14 hours notice on Thanksgiving weekend, that was neigh impossible. They did offer us the option to do a take-home kit, but the whole point is to personalize the leather covers, etching them, using stencils, embossing, knives, binding, feathers, herbs, charms, and various add-ons that the store provides, along with the guidance of the "instructor". None of which is applicable with a take-home kit. I mean, I could go to Hobby Lobby and buy the basic supplies from their kit on my own! As their website promotes, "Our workshops are immersive crafting sessions!" - Which is markedly different than a take home kit. They did not charge me, but did advise it'd be 2-3 weeks until I see a refund of my deposit - which I shall be keeping a sharp eye our for. They did apologize, but this is just exceptionally unprofessional. Afterall, if I were a no-show, or cancelled less than 24 hours beforehand as they did, "There are no refunds for late cancellations [less than 24 hours], tardiness, or "no shows" ."Very disappointing - especially to see a one guest workshop taking place in front of our eyes. It's too bad. We spent around $300 on two other visits buying broom supplies and intended to spend another $150 or so on this book-binding workshop.

We did the bookbinding workshop. Great fun and done at a nice pace. What a fabulous souvenir for us to be taking home with us. Highly recommend booking something here. Very friendly staff, just wish we had room to take a broom on the plane back to the UK as would have booked in for that too.

Me and my husband were celebrating our wedding anniversary the weekend before Halloween and this is such a fun activity to do! We loved making our own brooms! Such a unique activity! Loved having all the different options available to help create your master piece. It’s also nice having 2 teachers walk you through the process step by step and to also help assist when necessary! (Can get a little tricky!) CHECK THEM OUT!Highly recommend booking in advance - like we did but, if you can’t get in to make your own broom they also sell at home kits as well which is super cool!

Great place to visit if you're in the Salem area. They offer book binding and broom making classes. My wife and I did the book binding class and it was a lot of fun and the instructor was super helpful! Definitely check this place out.

I went in 2022 and took their book binding and broom making class. They were wonderful classes I had so much fun and I love my book and broom. I took the classes back to back and they were kind about me taking a little longer to finish from the first class and let me group my payment. I think back on the experience fondly and can't wait to visit again.

I had such an amazing experience at The Witchery! It was such an intimate setting and the instructors were able to give one on one attention to each person that needed it. I took the broom making course the day before Halloween and I was so excited to have my very own broom with me on Halloween day.

We did the workshop on the busiest day of the year (the Saturday before Halloween) and we had an amazing team. Our brooms are beautiful and the class was worth every penny! They even pack up your brooms at the end

I was so looking forward to this; I reserved all the way back in June. My partner and I planned a trip to Salem and I’ve been dying to try the broom making class. After reviewing their store policy I gave them a call and asked if I paid for my partners seat (50$ ) they would be guaranteed a seat even if they did not wish to participate. We were told this was okay as long as we paid for the seat. Upon arrival we were told they had to either purchase a broom or leave the store. I explained, clearly confused that I was told if we paid for the seat they could stay. The sales rep who was not a part of the broom making tutorial was very rude and said “we had signed a terms and conditions and should’ve read the policy”. If I’m planning a trip from all the way in June of course I’m doing my homework? I asked could he wait inside as it’s chilly in October and we’re told no he must wait outside. I had to request the 50$ deposit back as it was not offered after the confusion. So ridiculous and truly hurt the experience. I hope the blonde woman at the register learns a thing or two about customer service. Of course she deserves decency, but so do we. I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know about their conflicting store policies and inconsistent decisions. And especially their cold demeanor. Such a shame.

Cool little shop in Salem. I was really bummed their workshops were all sold out, but I was able to bring a broom kit home with me. Staff were all helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely book waaaaay ahead of time if you’re planning to visit Salem.
