I am the treasurer of a small nonprofit located in Saugus. For many years we had both a checking and a savings account at Salem Five. The savings account was money set aside for a future use and there were no transactions in that account for several years. Without informing us, Salem Five sent this money to the state's unclaimed properties division. After I was notified by the state that they had received this money from Salem Five, I went to the branch and was told that they have a policy that any funds with no activity for three years was sent to unclaimed properties. They said it was all part of a computer algorithm and they had nothing to do with it at the branch. The fact that we had an active checking account at the same bank should have told them that this was not an abandoned account. Salem Five had our correct contact information on file yet failed to warn us that they were taking this action. This is banking malpractice in my mind - reckless disregard for their customers' funds. We are closing our remaining account and moving the funds to another bank. Don't trust your money with them!

I have been a customer for years and the least I can say is that I’ve always been happy with the outstanding customer service I get at Saugus branch. I highly recommend this branch.

This branch is by far the worst I am appalled at how unprofessional the manager and staff are. Stay clear of the Salem Five Bank in Saugus there are by far so many better options. Terrible isn’t even the word to describe how this bank has treated me especially the managers, I do not understand how they can even call themselves a manager they have not a single clue what they are doing. What a shame.

Save yourself the headache the most unprofessional people i’ve ever dealt with. You’ll sit on hold for hours and hours and they still don’t have an explanation. Horrible.

My 16 old son open checking amount after starting job. Was handed photo copy paper with sticky note saying account number no instructions.He started to received minim wage pay and I moved over funds to his saving to teach how to save. Some week he would want money since he got paid every two weeks so I would moved money back but for most part was saving for car and college. Until recently I realize hundred if not more dollar missing. Salem five has a policy that u can’t transfer money more 6 times in a money or they charge u. No where was I told or sent a warning and it is awful a 16 kids money taken good way to teach saving.I called Salem five was told his saving account was open year ago when he was born and not used as he had no money and now we should have been told them 10 plus years ago. Salem five gave him 10 credit after I his mother have been with there bank over 30 years and told me they need to stay consistent that’s policy nothing they can do.Refuse to help and my son out his part time work he did over the summer for bank fee not overdraft not late fee just bank feeWay to go in a time of Covid to teach a kidsI will be closing my account for sureAnd to the person that called me back fromManagement very cold not empathy apparently not a mom have no compassion for the kid

I've been a Salem5 customer for almost 30 years and customer service has always been courteous and helpful if I had a question or problem. I highly recommend it. My only complaint is that there's no Branch close to home.

I Highly recommend this branch! I spoke with Alondra and she was fantastic! She deserves a raise or a promotion. Alondra was patient and kind. She took the time to explain the policy and procedures and was very informative.Overall great experience and glad to have her help!

Bank sucks don't go there there's a manager there she's no good and there's Joe Riley the vice president he's a piece of s*** he talks to you like he thinks he owns you know respect very bad business people if you're smart don't open an account at the Salem five

Stay away - this bank is a complete and utter disgrace to the town of Salem. Countless fees, checks taking longer to deposit than promised, no 24/7 customer help line (even if your card is cancelled). Just go to TD - better hours, better service, and they're Canadian so they're way nicer.
