We selected Solid State from 5 companies, and we are very happy with the result (James Hardie siding). Sales person (Adam) was great, he explained what exactly should be done in our case, and his explanations were the most reasonable. Unlike others he did not inflate the price so that he would be able to lower it later, and his price was very reasonable. He explained that we will not pay in advance for unexpected problems like rotten wood because he does not expect substantial problems and he does not want to charge us many thousands in advance for something we most likely will not need (and he appeared right, these extra charges were reasonable and minimal). The guys that did the job were great. They paid attention to everything, they knew what they were doing, and the quality was excellent. They implemented all our reasonable requests and very politely explained why a few requests were not reasonable (they were right!). The workplace was clean at the end of each day. The result was even better than we expected.
Thank you for the excellent work!

We are very happy with our vinyl siding and the work Solid State Construction competed. The foreman and project manager were great to work with. They made sure to be transparent and walk us through the process until completion. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to side their house.

spent 70k for residing the whole house. I called 4 times and sent email asking about when they will come out to take a look at the water damage to the soffit, but never got a response back. Same typical company that once they got your money, they won't be back for sure if you have any problems.
Updates: I finally got email from them and sent out the nice guy to take a look at the problem and they said will contact me what to do next and hopefully won't be 2-3 months.
Updates: They came and took care of the problems. Thank you

Solid State just wrapped up completion on an extensive job for our two family home which included a new roof, removal of four skylights and a massive two story deck.
The first face of Solid State that we had the pleasure of meeting with was Adam, who came out for the initial assessment and planning of our project. Adam was very personable, knowledgeable and extremely easy to work with. He promptly returned with an estimate and a detailed presentation about the company and their products so that we were well informed and confident before we made the decision to hire Solid State.
The owner, Jeff took the time to come out and meet with us, he also spent many hours with the planning of our rather complicated set up to accommodate both a lower and upper deck. Jeff made himself available by phone, text and email and quickly responded to any questions or concerns we had.
Andre and his crew were amazing, arriving early each morning and diligently working hard each day. They went above and beyond our expectations. A special thank you to them for re erecting our dog pen that had to come down in the process of demolishing our old existing decks.
We would highly recommend Solid State. We are extremely satisfied with their quality of workmanship, ease to work with and dedication throughout the duration of our project.

I recently had 17 double hung windows and two large casement sliders replaced by Solid State. I am thoroughly satisfied with the quality and choice of the (US made) windows from Provia, the patient and low-pressure sales approach, the follow-on communication and project management, the professionalism, efficiency and workmanship of installation crew and subsequent follow-up from management. Their price was very competitive with the 3 other companies that bid the job; I felt I got remarkable value at the price point.

Want to share our great experience with Solid State Construction and James Hardie siding. With the house having been painted at least four times, the results of a fifth were going to be less than desired. The pictures pretty much show the before and after. It was a complete stripping of shingles, soffits, etc. Also the windows were replaced. The result is stunning, and many people walking by stopped and asked about the job. Also want to add the great experience with the crew. They were on site every day(except one Holiday and a rain day), cleaned up at the end of the day. It was also beneficial to have anticipated some unexpected issues, especially in a 55 year old house.

It's really hard to say enough good things about Solid State. They are certainly not a low cost option, but when you really get into these types of jobs, the experience, installation approach, quality, and attention to detail is what matters the most. The project manager, Vinnie, assigned to our job was incredible and gave us confidence and transparency throughout the entire process. The QA lead they assigned (former Hardie employee) walked through the house with us and made sure any small items were taken care of to our satisfaction - and shared many valuable tips for maintenance going forward. It goes without saying, the finished product looks incredible.

Water damage, incompetence, waste of money. I contracted with Solid State to redo my siding and replace the decking and rails on my cantilevered balcony in the fall of 2019. It was a roughly 50K job. Everything looked good at first, though Jeff Brooks was a pain to deal with and his crew gouged my brand new hardwood floors. Solid State’s shoddy work only became apparent to me about a year later, when, in December 2020, I saw water stains on my ceiling, right below the where the joists of my balcony enter the interior of my house. More water damage in January of 2021 - this is when I contacted Solid State and asked them to take a look. Jeff sent a whole series of people to my house over the course of about 2 years, first to do some work on the exterior of the house, which they thought would fix the water penetration. Then to replace my balcony’s sliding door, at a cost to me of over 7,000. It didn’t work. Eventually, Jeff sent someone to cut open my interior wall and ceiling, to better understand the leak. With the wall open, I took several videos of water penetrating the exterior of the house at the balcony joists, which I shared with Jeff. His crew did more work, thinking the problem was fixed. The crew came back to close up my wall and ceiling. These guys can’t do drywall to save their lives, it looked absolutely awful. I was redoing their poor patch job when I noticed that in the heavy wind and rain of December 2022, I was still getting water penetration. I gave up working with these guys. They’re utterly incompetent and Jeff is terrible to work with. Jeff has claimed at various times that this leak has nothing to do with their work. So, what, it’s just coincidence that SSC did all this work on my balcony, siding, and door, and I get water penetration in heavy rain? I never had this problem before they massacred my house. If this has nothing to do with their poor work, why was he sending crews to my house to do these questionable “repairs”? I have contracted with a local, reputable builder, at a cost of 10,000 dollars, to inspect everything and redo what needs to be redone. Which is more than just the siding and balcony - Solid State messed up when reinstalling my gutters, they used the wrong color exterior caulk and the wrong color paint for touch ups. Jeff Brooks and Solid State Construction are a nightmare. They damaged my home and cost me over 17,000 dollars in expense due to their general incompetence. Stay away.Services: General door installation

Water damage, incompetence, waste of money. Don't let Solid State onto your property.I contracted with Solid State to redo my siding and replace the decking and rails on my cantilevered balcony in the fall of 2019. It was a roughly $50K job. Everything looked good at first, though I have to say that Jeff Brooks was a pain to deal with. For example, when his crew gouged my brand new hardwood floors in two locations, Jeff agreed to have a flooring contractor fix the first gouge, but only paid half as much for the 2nd gouge (which I discovered only after fixing the 1st one). Solid State's shoddy work only became apparent to me about a year later, when, in December 2020, I saw water stains on my ceiling, right below the where the joists of my balcony enter the interior of my house. More water damage in January of 2021 - this is when I contacted Solid State and asked them to take a look. Jeff sent a whole series of people to my house over the course of about 2 years, first to do some work on the exterior of the house, which they thought would fix the water penetration; then to replace my balcony's sliding door, at a cost to me of over $7,000. Jeff himself told me this would be the best course of action to fix the water penetration. It didn't work. More work was done on the exterior, replacing some flashing - this didn't help. Eventually, Jeff sent someone to cut open my interior wall and ceiling, to better understand the leak. This was incredibly disruptive, but whatever, I figured it was worth it to fix the problem. With the wall open, I took several videos of water penetrating the exterior of the house at the balcony joists, which I shared with Jeff. His crew eventually pulled up my balcony decking and redid some more flashing, thinking the problem was fixed. To be fair to them, they used a hose to test for water penetration, and none was evident from inside the house when I was looking through the open wall. So everyone thought it was fixed. The crew came back to close up my wall and ceiling. These guys can't do drywall to save their lives, it looked absolutely awful. I was redoing their crappy patch job when I noticed that in the heavy wind and rain of December 2022, I was still getting water penetration!Jeff sent his guy over to my house again, who said he'd probably open up my window trim and take a look. He went silent for a while, but I was contacted by that person again in late Feb 2023, asking if I still had water leaking into the house. I gave up working with these guys. They're utterly incompetent and Jeff is terrible to work with. There was more than one frustrating discussion with him and his office about getting people over to my house. Jeff has claimed at various times that this leak has nothing to do with their work. So, what, it's just coincidence that SSC did all this work on my balcony, siding, and door, and I get water penetration in heavy rain?!? When there was no water penetration at all for the prior 3 years that I owned this house? If this has nothing to do with their crappy work, why was he sending crews to my house to do these crappy "repairs"?I have contracted with a local, reputable builder, at a cost of $10,000, to inspect everything and redo what needs to be redone. Which is more than just the siding and balcony - Solid State also screwed up when reinstalling my gutters (they didn't flash properly, I have water leaking down the fascia in 2 spots). When Solid State installed that new sliding door, they used the wrong color exterior caulk, not to mention the wrong color exterior paint for touch ups. But that's nothing compared to the water damage.Jeff Brooks and Solid State Construction are a nightmare. They damaged my home and cost me over $17,000 in expense due to their general incompetence. Stay away.

We had a great experience working with Solid State Construction and are quite happy with the finished product. We had vinyl siding and the original lead painted clapboard removed from our 1950s house and replaced with James Hardie siding. We also had 10 windows replaced. From the start, I was impressed with Solid State. I really enjoyed working with Kerri on the initial designs and decisions, and then once work started, Chris and his crew were always very responsive and easy to communicate with.We got multiple estimates for this job and while Solid State was the most expensive, I also felt the most confidence in them and I was not disappointed.Issues will always pop up with this kind of work. But any issue we had was resolved promptly and professionally and without any drama. I would definitely recommend Solid State to anyone looking for this type of work. When the time comes for us to replace our roof, they will be the first people I call.Service: Window installation

Solid State Construction did a phenomenal job revitalizing and preserving my beloved (but very weather beaten) 132-year-old, 3-1/2-story Victorian home with James Hardie siding and 19 ProVia windows! From my first call to the company, through the creative design consultations with Kerri T. via Zoom, the demolition and installation phase led with skill and a keen attention to detail by Project Manager Brandon K., Crew Chief Ezequiel S. and his team, Quality Control Consultant Rudi D., and the trouble-shooting expertise of Electrician Steve, the helpful updates from Executive Assistant Jackie C., up until the final punch list item was done, it was clear this talented team not only knew all about James Hardie siding and how to install it, but how to do so skillfully and carefully on an older home. A small yard and common driveway also posed challenges for equipment set up, material storage, and debris collection, but the team dealt with all of that in stride. Communication throughout the project was EXCELLENT. Daily texts, regular phone calls, and on-site chats with Brandon ensured my peace of mind as the work progressed. The window and siding installation crew members were extremely punctual, hard working, courteous, and respectful. It was heartening to hear the team share my enthusiasm for this project as we watched the house transformed from the saddest looking one on the street to the most beautiful! I highly recommend Solid State.Service: Window installation

As a property manager I've worked with dozens of contractors. I'd give Solid State Construction a grade of C-. I hoped that hiring a company that had a project manager and a James Hardie quality control expert I wouldn't have to closely check the work being done. I couldn't have been more wrong. The number 1 problem is all the work is done by subcontractors and the one assigned to my project couldn't have cared less about the quality of his work. Things went south after the old siding was torn off. I was told by the project manager he would walk through and show me any areas where the sheathing was rotten before any repairs were started, that didn't happen. When I saw repairs to the sheathing taking place under a large window I called the project manager, then I found rotten wood under another window sill that I pointed out to the subcontractor. A very expensive door installation was done so poorly I had the manufacturer's rep come out and he gave the installation a "C". The project manager kept sending out the same subcontractor to correct the problem up until that point. I finally said no, send someone else out who knows what he's doing. I was told, that's going to take a couple of weeks so you'll have to wait until another guy is available. So I waited. The project manager called me a liar after I called him out for not doing what he said he would. He finally admitted that he was doing the best he could. I said I know that but it's not good enough. There were countless other problems as well, the 3 above are the worst. This company is a general contractor, no employees do the work. You'd be paying 30% more than other companies and you won't get what you think you're paying for. I can't recommend this company.
