Literally the rudest staff ever. Dude at the meat counter didn't want to help the poor guy before me who hardly spoke English. Basically sent him away without trying to understand him. Then answered my two questions without turning to face me or raising his voice so that I could actually hear him. Then sighed in exasperation at me. At the front of the store, while checking out, the manager repeatedly berated a staff member-- apparently unaware that it is she who looked terrible, not the employee. I say "repeatedly" because I returned to the store five minutes after leaving because I'd forgotten something. Having already been disgusted with her treatment of the employee, I watched her light into her again. Made me ill. No one should be treated that way-- not in a back room and not in front of customers. Something is wrong at this location.

Stay far away. First and only yelp review after 13 years living in the local area. Today was the last time shopping here. Repulsive. Brown salads, rotten produce, broken dairy doors, awful smells and service, and empty shelves. Wish the old Foodmaster was still at this location - at least the food was somewhat fresh. Today was the 3rd time I've just up and left with my cart full after waiting 20+ minutes in line - this time behind an idiot screaming that his mask was killing him and in front of an obviously sick woman with no mask on. No thanks.

Scheduled a pick up, no one showed up for 15-20 minutes, things that were showing "out of stock" while ordering showed up in my order automatically, things that were in my order were out of stock, but when i went in the store i could see them. Ridiculous. The person who got our stuff to our car literally threw things. After i reached home and unloaded, noticed a lot of things were bad quality and some were missing. FYI, this particular store charges more than the Medford one.

This grocery store has the rudest employees I've ever encountered. They clearly do not care. Cashiers ignore customers and put eggs in a bag with a gallon of milk. Avoid this awful place.

This review only reflects western Union, not the site.Western Union is bafflingly behind the times in their customer service and their ability to manage their own products. Purchasing a money order and then attempting to have it cashed was needlessly difficult.Next time I will simply buy a gift card.The entire process sent an especially calm person (myself) into a frustration and rage that I haven’t experienced in years.

Just moved to the neighborhood and went here for my first grocery shop this week ... my boyfriend picked up a Greek pasta salad (not expired per the date on the label) and immediately after eating some this afternoon (next day) became ill and was vomiting all day and night. I won't be coming back here unless it's for something non-perishable. He definitely got some form of food poisoning from the pasta salad.

The Stop and Shop in Alewife, Somerville Ma has awful customer service. This was so even before COVID. They have no regards for people with disabilities. Store is also not very clean. Refrigerators are sort of dirty. Shop hear sometimes because I have no choice because of my condition. But not happy going there. Prices on some items are also not great. Took advantage of COVID to inflate prices. Also didn't want to give money back at this time on food items that were spoiled. Customers took the loss. Unfortunate, to take such advantage on customers.

I will NEVER shop at this location ever again or any location for that matter. During these times it's essential that we protect ourselves and those around us by wearing proper face covering per order of State and City of Somerville mandates. Appropriate face coverings must cover both the nose and mouth and be worn at all times in any public space. None of this was the case at this Stop & Shop. Every customer wore a mask but nearly half were wearing masks exposing their noses or just wearing them draped below their chins. What was even more startling was how many employees were wearing masks below their noses or not at all. While standing in line to check out I witnessed an employee with no mask drinking a beverage while checking out a customer (the customer was also wearing the mask just barely covering his mouth, his nose was fully exposed). The employee pulled down his mask talked to the customer and drank freely from his beverage while handling the customers purchases. I walked out of the store in shock and dismay not having purchased anything. Seriously? What's the point of even pretending to wear a mask if no one in your store does it correctly and is in no way enforced by staff or management for employees or customers? If the employees are not following strict guidelines enforced by the State and City while customers are in the building... then what happens behind the scenes? Are there safety protocols at this establishment? Are the employees safe? Are the customers safe? Is there a single member of the management team adhering to guidelines set by the State, City, or CDC.... I don't think so. Don't go here. Don't support an establishment that does not care about the safety of it's employees, it's customers, or its community. Somerville has over 80,000 people sharing the same 4 square miles and THIS STOP & SHOP IS PUTTING EVERYONE IN DANGER. Here is information THAT WAS POSTED IN APRIL somervillema.gov/news/so… .

Be careful with this store - I have found them overcharging. I am a regular customer to this store. I normally do not check my receipt after checkout - but this time I did and found I was charged something I didn't have. Went back to the customer service, waited 25 minutes and the customer service rep didn't even apologized and as if I did something wrong and I had no right to go to ask them. She gave me the refund in cash (I paid by CC) but I didn't see positive attitude and no apology. Is that how this store trick regular customers like me? Who knows how many times I was tricked like this before for the last several years.

The only reason I go to this store is because of how close it is to my house. I went today and walked into an extremely uninviting store. Employees are outside smoking cigarettes in front of the door. The broccoli that was available was brown and just about spoiled. The chicken breast was wet and packages broken, leaking chicken juice onto the packages beneath it. The floor is dirty, and items are tossed around on shelves. The cashiers are all texting and look uninviting when I was ready to check out. There was crap all over the floor as well. I understand that I went later in the day, but I expect more from a store that considers themselves as part of our community. It can't be hard to ask an employee to walk around with a broom once an hour to ensure cleanliness. Only go here if any other store is closed!!

Most of the staff treat you like dirt... there are two managers or higher up older women who are great though. They never have enough people working so lines are constantly building up, selection is smaller then most stop and shops and they tend to run out of things and not replace them for weeks, sometimes months. It's near my house so I go there. If any other super market was nearby I'd go there. Also end the strike and start treating your employees with some respect. Without their hard work and care you'd have roaches and rats all over the place. Avoid if you can

The location is convenient, but the employees can be rude, awkward, or even stare at you when they KNOW you need help.
