I have loved the Odyssey since 1983, before the fires, when Romeo was still alive. They still carry a great variety of interesting books. They still will cheerfully order books for you.A staffer noticed that I was having trouble with the stairs, and stopped to tell me where the elevator was. We had a nice little chat.It is the kind of bookstore where folks notice what books you are buying and will start interesting conversations.Lots of MHC stuff, too.Was surprised that my name is still in their computer (had an account as a student there, always come in on the rare occasions I'm back on campus and was one of the alums who went out of the way to order books from them during the worst of the pandemic). Not only that, there was a coupon there for me.The Odyssey is an institution. I hope it keeps going strong for another 60 years and more.

This is a lovely family-run bookstore right across the street from the Mount Holyoke campus. Great selection of books and they were kind enough to wrap my gift items. Very strong on customer service.

Everything a small independent bookstore should do is done by the Odyssey. In addition to a wonderful selection of books and knowledgeable booksellers, they host author events, many book clubs, and community events. I've seen authors such as Dennis Lehane, Louise Penny, Garrison Keillor, David Sedaris, Rachel Maddow and Ann Cleeves at events hosted by this bookstore.

One of my favorite indie bookstores. Friendly staff and lovely store. They have this cool book lover’s program in which you accumulate “points” and then you get a discount on a book. And they always have cool author signings going on! Plus: It’s located in a lovely area in South Hadley next to restaurants, other businesses and a small park. It’s a cool place to walk around and shop.

Very small bookstore, first floor is mostly for the college and downstairs caters more to children. Not a lot of mystery and science fiction books.

One of my favorite book shops in the area. It's perfectly situated to make a trip out involving food, coffee, and then a shop around at Odyssey. The selection of books is excellent. Having shopped for myself I'm the past (primarily fiction, autobiography, history, etc), I now find myself looking for books for new twins. They had books for everything! Even a twin book for little ones that explains what it means to be a twin and it is perfect. Their selection just happens to align with my views on alot of things so I can't wait to make a number of repeat purchases in the future.Prices are good given it's a brick and mortar store. You can't go comparing to online pricing! I would hate to lose such a beautiful bookstore to everyone only buying online. It's just such a pleasure to peruse around and look in a book before purchasing.

The Odyssey has been an essential presence in South Hadley, adjacent Mt. Holyoke College, and in the middle of the five valley colleges. They have recently taken on the chore of selling campus logo-wear but, for me, the best part of the store is it's ground-floor children's section. Not to be missed, there is also a great Japanese restaurant on the same block.

We met Jeff Kinney today at Odyssey Bookshop! My kids were beyond excited to meet their favorite author and we were beyond pleased with the experience! The book shop had everything well organized, running smoothly, socially distanced and safe. Thank you!
