The Harold R. Ascher Funeral Home was opened in 1954 by Harold and Jeanette Ascher to serve the needs of the Jewish community of the Pioneer Valley. In 1972, the name was changed to the Harold R. Ascher & Son Memorial Chapel to commemorate Harold and Jeanette‘s eldest son, Robert, joining the family business. When Harold retired in 1990, Robert Zimmerman, a funeral director from WI, was invited to join the Ascher funeral home. In 2000, Ryan Ascher, the son of Robert Ascher, became the third generation of the Ascher family to care for the greater Springfield community. Upon Robert Ascher’s retirement in April of 2006, Robert Zimmerman and Ryan Ascher purchased the business and changed the name to the Ascher-Zimmerman.
My experience working with Ascher Zimmerman was very positive. Everything went very smoothly and Ryan Ascher was extremely attentive to my needs.

I cannot recommend them highly enough. Incredibly professional and competent. They know what they're doing and do it well, without fuss or stress. Their prices are quite a value considering their services and my family truly appreciate how easily they dealt with our grief-stricken and emotional state.
