Staff was absolutely amazing. The waitress was so attentive, the chef delivered some of our food and was also so nice. We walked by and let him know everything was perfect and he was very appreciative. Food was incredible, probably the most tender pieces of salmon sushi I’ve ever gotten, ramen was seasoned perfectly. Will 100% be back.

I ordered the spicy seafood mazemen and mercy roll. Both were delicious. I also had a Kamikaze for a cocktail and it was so good. I have been to Barkaya many times and it never disappoints. Great food, drinks and service. The ambiance is great and they have a big flat screen for sports. I recommend visiting them on a Monday for $10 ramen but just a heads up sushi isn’t served on Mondays.

It was the understaffing for me. We waited for what seemed like forever to order, for food and for the bill. That really is my issue when it came to this place. The rest was ok. The steak and scallops were delish and the sushi bar was entertaining to watch. Expect a little wait as this place can get busy.

The wings were fantastic very crispy and flavorful. Tried the pork belly Mazemen this time around and it was great. The $10 Monday special can’t be beat! Bartender was very friendly and welcoming.

The broth was bland, it needed more flavor or taste to it. The sushi rice was very sticky (it wasn’t made like regular sushi rice). It was like eating a very sticky moist rice ball. The rice overpowered the actual taste of the roll since the fish on top was also thinly sliced (could use thicker slices of fish for the amount of rice given on a roll.) The food quality and effort definitely went down. Overpriced for the quality we got.

Overall this place is okay bordering on good. The food was fine but lacked a little effort. Example the cucumber Chili salad was roughly sliced cucumber with fried chili oil on top. The cucumbers slices were thick and only really enjoyable if you had a good amount of chili on it.Parking: Depending on the night finding parking can be pretty rough.

Only one waitress- who was also the bartender on a Friday night. Her cocktails were awesome, but the food was not worth what we paid. Overcooked noodles and flavorless sushi. Maybe the ramen is fine, but our dishes sucked.

Portion of meat could’ve been higher overall taste was as if I got it at a buffet/catering event. “Alright guys, let’s just make a whole batch of the ramen and don’t worry about quality just a couple flavor shots in the water and call it a day” mentality. Didn’t have a homemade soup taste that takes hours to simmer to get an excellent flavor profile when consumed. Despite this I’d still go again and order something else.I ordered main entree miso chicken RamenOh and as an appetizer, I ordered the dumplings worth every dollar so yummy, the pasta tastes as though they made it freshAppetizer 5/5Ramen 3/5I also kept adding soy sauce to my bowl bc it was low in flavor, ultimately I added too muchSo of course that’s my own fault.

I'll start this with a portion of my pervious review, before covid decimated our service industry in Springfield. This was 4 years ago:"Overall, our diner at BARkaya was one of the best dining experiences in the city, maybe the region. We will be back for the normal diner service, and try to conjure a special occasion to try to 22 course Omakase next. We're been excited and impressed with the renaissance of our city, and BARkaya is a terrific addition to it."Fast forward to tonight. The experience continues to exceed expectations. While the menu is reduced from it's pre-pandemic offerings, the current is a refinded list of what the restaurant did/does best. We had the pork belly burnt ends, dumplings, and wings. All of which were fantastic. Cocktails were visibly beautiful and complimented the umami of the dishes quite well. Service was impeccable and very personal, attentive of our needs. Out of everything, the pork belly was my favorite. I've spent time in the service in Okinawa, and pork belly is a staple in the cuisine. Bar Kaya adds a flair and nails it.We really enjoyed our visit back.tltr: this place is great, and you should eat there.
