This petco has always been awful. As soon as you walk in a strange smell hits you. I have found a dead BETTA FISH in a GLOW FISH TANK. The service is absurd. When they scoop crickets they leave a bunch to run all over the store instead of recapturing them. And today was not okay at all. I saw a poor Leopard gecko laying very uncomfortably and looking so ill i thought it was dead, til i saw his/ hers lungs inhale. Being the animal advocate i am, i called them asking them to check on the lizard. The response i got is “well all our geckos are awake and running around”. I took a picture and told the man i had proof and he didnt seem to care so i hung up. The housing for these reptiles is outrageous. Leopard geckos are supposed to be nocturnal, and living alone. Chain pet stores like petco and petsmart need to do better. Stop buying these animals your just making more room for more animals to die and suffer in the cramped gross enclosures.

This location has the absolute cleanest fish tanks! Also the best shrimp! The woman who helped us with our shrimp purchase was very knowledgeable and helpful! Overall, a surprisingly awesome trip to petco! Get your fish here. Also, the other pocket pets looked extremely healthy (cutest guinea pigs who looked super healthy and well taken care of). Also two chameleons who were very active and healthy looking. Clean store and helpful staff. 5 stars isn’t enough!!!

walked in, went to back of store where the Honest Kitchen for dogs is displayed.
I then went to checkout with my selection.
the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars, is the protracted socializing between cashier and the customer that was ahead of me. I am standing behind person that has already had their purchases rung up while the conversation goes on & on. The last time I shopped this store a similar event took place. Honestly, I run into petco for dog food because my online order has not arrived and my dogs are hungry - they have no interest in how frustrating it is to stand & wait - they are just hungry.
it is great that petco staff are friendly, however, catching up on events (non work related) would seem to me as something that should take place during non-working hours.
in fact, if another store (tractor supply for example) carried the Honest Kitchen dog food, I would take my trade there. I would be surprised to learn that petco management would be OK losing a customer in order to provide paid time to a cashier - in order for them to manage their social life.
I can assure you that petco's ONLY advantage, is actually stocking a product that i need right away - there certainly is no price advantage nor are all the products I purchase available.

I called Sturbridge to get my cats nails trimmed. A employee Named Sarah Set up an appointment 05/14/2024 for me stated appt at 8:15 a.m. When I arrived there they said that they did not have an appointment! they stated in might be Auburn store. It was a waist of time for me and my cat!!!

I brought my dog into the salon, Emily was his stylist. When I picked him up he was happy, smelled good and his nails were perfect. I was also told they will be offering training classes soon, I’ll be attending those asap.
