I’m sad I didn’t read the reviews before booking it. I actually thought it would just be ‘rustic’ and a little old but this place felt like whoever owns it stopped caring altogether 30 years ago. Where to begin? We were traveling to attend the Brimfield Antique show and this was close and located on a lake which seemed charming. Nope. The decks were rough and splintery, we had to switch rooms the first night because it smelled like fresh toxic paint over mold. The hallways were filled with about 3 different odors, cigarette smoke, mildew, and God knows what else. Walls were scuffed at every hall, wallpaper peeling, and I couldn’t take my eyes off the awful paint job over the main reception area, the beams were black but the ceiling was white spray painted and the spray painted white was roughly covering the black beams and I couldn’t help but wonder if the job was complete or if it was a work in progress.
The icing on the cake for us, I asked the front desk if they had any feminine care products and they said they do not carry them, only soap shampoo and conditioner, but they did have condoms in the vending machines which I’m assuming are for the annual swingers convention (which a local bartender told us occurs at this hotel). Thankfully another hotel guest had maxi pads because the cvs was closed!
We checked out early and switched to another hotel.
Long story short, not worth the savings. My husband said we would’ve been better off putting a mattress in our U-Haul.

The bed was clean, but the room smelled like mold in an old hotel.
There's no microwave
There's no refrigerator
No guest laundry
Please be careful if you have allergies
Rooms: There is a musty smell and there is no refrigerator, so people staying for a long time will be in trouble.

Previous reviews about its dishonest advertisement and lack of cleanliness is accurate. It's kind of cool, kind of gross. There's zero amenities actually available that are advertised. The jacuzzi is gone, the room smells like black mold, the pool is freezing even in the summer and has a nasty dirty tint to it. It has so much potential but geez, fix something in here please! Everything looks like it was put in in the late 90s and never kept up with or cleaned. Waste of money honestly pay the extra 30 dollars to stay up the road or something.

Nice location by the lake but it seems that the hotel is gradually decaying. The room was smelling. There was a cockroach in the bathroom.

Nice location, staff very nice, rooms are what I expected. Minus a mini fridge…
The big negative is false advertisement.. said continental breakfast, pictures showed a jacuzzi.
Those were the big reasons we chose to stay here.
They had neither… we were so excited to go away for a cpl days and very disappointed…we wouldn’t have come here and now stuck multiple days…
Walkability: Way out of the way not walking easily anywhere!
:(
Food & drinks: They serve no food, have no room service, nothing to eat at all.. no mini fridge in the room just added to the inconvenience! They have a couple of vending machines.. we did not want to go anywhere during our stay. Found out there’s no service 645 am .. sooo disappointed!

The hotel is located by the river, but it's very poorly maintained. The room had a strong musty smell, and there were too many mosquitoes. The air conditioner was old and barely worked. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Tom the front desk employee made it so easy an fast for our stay, we appreciate it Tom, we usually come every year to this location a nice quiet getaway from home with a beautiful view an pool, the only thing I wish they still had was the jacuzzi next to the pool,, other then that I would give this a 20 star rating, love this place an love the way they treat their customers.. thank you again Tom
Rooms: Rooms was spacious an comfortable, if you see any other bad reviews about the rooms or customers service, it is definitely lies, this place is great an comfortable

The pricey place was actually a motel, not a hotel resort at all. The hallway- carpet is so old and filthy. The television wasn’t even plugged in. A towel had a stain we couldn’t use it. Dust and moldly. The hotel was like a horror movie. The staff was kind enough to allow us to changes room. But the entire hotel needs to go. I was shocked to pay over $200 for a bed that wobble and a hotel that is long neglected. It was upsetting- we didn’t get to sleep that night. The lake view is nice but that’s it. So sad! And we lost our money that night. Upsetting.

This place is not a hotel at all but just a huge motel with a lot of low-quality amenities. It is not well-maintained place. The smell is old and musty. The bed wasn’t good at all, I had a hard time sleeping with the air conditioning blowing all over our faces. I’m afraid I might get bedbugs! This place, in my opinion, needs to be taken down completely. We had to check out the next day immediately to find a better hotel nearby!

Don't come here. Double bed. No jacuzzi, deserted hotel with no amenities. Extra 10 usd for a fridge. 25 usd for 5 people to have 3rd beds after 9:30 p.m. if the employee wants to bring it to you.

Great place for events and conferences. The rooms are nice, and clean. Didn't stay there personally, but went for an event and set up, and the days setting up the staff was great and friendly. The building is amazing, view on the lake is great :)

Title: Extremely Disappointing Stay - False Advertising and Poor Conditions
I recently stayed at the Sturbridge Host Hotel and had a deeply disappointing experience. The hotel advertised amenities like a restaurant, hot tub, and refrigerator, none of which were available. The cleanliness was appalling, with roaches spotted in the room (we have photos for proof). They also advertised paddle boats and kayaks, but when asked to use them, we were informed there was an additional charge. Additionally, they charge you if you do not return your card key.
The conditions were so bad that after a few days, I moved to La Quinta, which was spotless and had very accommodating staff. I do not recommend staying at the Sturbridge Host Hotel.
Rooms: Rooms were supposed to
have a refrigerator but when we asked they said we would have to get a “suite” for $300 a night in order to get a refrigerator
Safety: There were roaches

Walls were paper-thin and moldy. We could literally hear the entire conversation of the loud family we were put next to as if they were in the room with us. First room smelled like weed. We were able to move our room, but the next reeked of cigarette smoke. We couldn’t get a mini fridge, even though we specifically asked for one because we had leftovers, but thank god we had that ironing board. There was a bug in my sister’s bed. AC was loud and barely worked. The front area looked cool, but don’t be fooled. The rooms themselves are not good. Overall I probably would not go here unless it was for a one night stand.
