Excellent service, great fees (when applicable) - beats any large bank hands down. No foreign transaction fees either. Impeccable online and mobile access.We have been in this bank for many years and still very happy.

I’ve been banking with Salem Five since I worked across the street in high school back in 2009. They are now helping me with mortgage financing options.Olga is always a pleasure to work with and has provided excellent customer service. I hadn’t stopped by the bank in person for over 1.5 years and she immediately said hi as I walked in. You don’t get that kind of relationship at larger banks where you’re just a number.

I have had a checking and a savings account at Salem Five since 2015, so I've had alot of experience with the bank. My advice is to go elsewhere, as they are incompetent, and its not sometimes, its serial incompetence.They have terrible IT. I have tried to log into my account about 8 times today and it worked exactly once. I'm using the proper name and password, and still, it says that they are incorrect. This is not an anomaly. This is standard practice for them.I tried to buy a computer a few years ago at a Bestbuy in the mid-west. I had plenty of money in my account. My debit card got declined 6 times. I was on the phone with "customer service" several times and each time they promised me the problem was solved. NOT SO! I had to leave the store and go get a checkbook to buy the computer.Customer service did a "review" of that situation and blamed me.You cannot verify any account w/Salem Five via Plaid. I tried to get an account w/Coinbase and they use Plaid for bank account verification. It didn't work, and it wasn't Coinbase's problem, it is Salem Five.I am switching to Citizens Bank because Salem is so horrible. Plaid worked w/my Citizens account the first time.A different time I was told by the customer service department that I could deposit checks via a non Salem ATM. I wasn't able to.So, serial incompetence. Know that before you choose a bank. They're terrible and trust that they blame you for their incompetence.Also, check out their Yelp reviews. Numerous one star reviews.UPDATE: You can see that they responded to my review by saying they are proud of their customer service and they suggest that I call their main 800 number for help! Honestly, they just made most of my points right there.

What can I say. I've been banking with Salem Five for 3 years now - mostly out of this branch although I don't live in Sudbury. I've been able to make large sum transfers over the phone between accounts just by speaking with their in-branch representative Derek. I have dealt with Olga, mostly via email, and she is just as helpful. I have an equity line of credit, a commercial account and a personal checking account with them. I just can't say enough about this bank. They lend at a very competitive rate, have the best customer service around (I also bank at BOA) and hope to be able to bank with them forever. Highly recommend this branch and the company as a whole.
