We were trying to attend the Blackstone Valley Auctions and Estates (BVAE) in Sutton and that is how we came to visit the Vaillancourt Folk Art housed in this mill-style building in Sutton. I want to thank everyone for their kindness and friendliness; it is such a lovely space; and we were most honored to be amongst such fine gems. Thank you very much for letting us ramble around in awe!

Saturday was the first time I ever experienced this wonderful gem of a store in Sutton. My mom and I loved looking around at all the beautiful hand painted ornaments and exquisite chalkware. We also both enjoyed a yummy sausage sub with a nice glass of Cabernet. We will definitely be back!

I have not visited this shop personally but have been an admirer from afar for many years! I made my first purchase in the late 90’s; got to visit with the artisans at Bergdorf’s in NYC a number of years ago and hope to visit next year for a girlfriend’s trip. I treasure the pieces I have purchased over the years and adore my recent purchase - the Fall Oak Leaf Santa. The quality of design and workmanship is exceptional - truly heirloom pieces! He is so handsome, he may have to stay out all year!

A very unique place to go to, especially if you're looking into Americana or European folk art. You can check out the museum or purchase items for yourself. I just checked out the German style Christmas market and it was wonderful! I definitely recommend doing this, as they have German folk music, German style booths serving hot drinks (cocoa, mulled wine, beer, tea, etc), sausages and pastries outside, with Christmas vendors inside. The vendors sell all handmade works that aren't cheap, but they are unique and well made and would certainly be conversation pieces. I highly recommend checking out this place for their unique collection that is unparalleled in the U.S. when it comes to folk art. It's not a subject matter with which I'm familiar AT ALL, but it is worth checking out

We attended the Christmas market that was held this past weekend. I am giving 1 star because I found the event to be quite overpriced for the admission cost. I have attended Christmas markets all across the U.S. as well as Germany and have never paid an entrance fee, let alone a $20 charge per person (including children). Considering how small the event was and the cost to attend, I would not recommend nor return.

I’ve shopped with Vaillancourt both online and in person. While both were outstanding, if you have the opportunity to visit the studio: do it. It will transport you to a place you have never been. It helped me rediscover my love for Christmas. Our Vaillancourt pieces are displayed proudly in our home and serve as a new annual tradition for our family.

Vaillancourt is my go-to place for special gifts! Their chalkware is beautiful — great attention to detail and each piece is signed and numbered. The shop is worth a trip!
