Unfortunately, Carroll’s is the only moving company on the island (since Barnes has been taken over by Carroll’s). I had used Barnes on multiple occasions and had never had any bad outcomes. I had a major move with Carroll’s and have been going through my items. So many of the boxes are mislabeled and things are in a jumbled mess. Many items are broken and/or damaged. I am sorry to say that many pieces of my furniture are seriously scratched (like deep gouges). There are missing items as well and we even have other peoples’ stuff (that I have absolutely no clue who they may belong to). I’ve tried to contact the company, but have been ignored.

Carroll’s Martha Vineyard hires some bad drivers. Hit a car in Brooklyn and did not bother to stop. This has been reported to the police along with their plate info.

Update / “MIHAIL” responded to my initial review, going the extra “mile” to respond to our situation. He was prompt in his communication and his follow-ups. He took the time to search for our missing belongings and, when they could not be immediately located, he made a generous gesture to offer fair compensation on behalf of Carroll’s. And, he was truly apologetic that the situation transpired as it did. Mihail’s efforts and assistance were greatly appreciated, and speak volumes to the quality of the people representing Carroll’s."...i want to make sure that we do right where we have done wrong." - Mihailand "they" did.

I don’t have anything but positive things to say about our experience working with Carroll’s Moving & Storage. I would highly recommend them for your move. From the moment that I requested a quote, Michael was responsive, pleasant, knowledgeable and respectful. Truly top of the line. Not only Michael, but everyone we encountered, including our day-of movers, was great. The Carroll’s team made our move to the island much less stressful than it otherwise would have been.

What's worse than being robbed? Paying someone every month for 20 years to store your stuff safely to end up robbed just the same. I grew up on Martha's Vineyard and lost my parents at 13 and 17. On each occasion I used Carroll's to store my stuff. I grew up with nice things, antiques, good art, oriental rugs, etc. I never put much thought into that stuff. Other family members decided I would want it one day.A few things I knew were in storage and specifically crossed my mind over the last 20 years, because I wanted to have them, were a Bowflex, a Focus Master (kick boxing equipment), and a lounge chair I loved. A trust account of mine faithfully made payments on my items for 20 plus years. When I recently bought a house I decided I wanted to get my stuff out of storage. I called Carroll's and left a message. One week went by and no return call. I called again. Spoke with a women there and was told they were sorry and that that would not happen again. Another week goes by I call back and was told the woman who owned it needed to give permission (my dead mother). I explained dead people have a hard time giving permission. I finally was quoted a moving price $6,000. The day before delivery I was told it would cost $9,000. A mere 3k blunder. Greg the owner did take off 2 grand explaining it was weight that made it cost more. (?) Ok (A moving company that mis-estimates by 3 grand, how about really delving the knife!) As my stuff was being delivered I noticed a few conspicuously absent items, the Bowflex and the Focus Master. The lounge chair I had thought about was there with no back cushion. And for all the oriental rugs I grew up with somehow only one tattered rag made it to me 20 years later. I expressed all this to Greg, the owner. He told me some things could have been lost and to let him check. Ok I say trying to be kind and keep myself peaceful. He never calls me back. So one month after I call again and leave him a message. No return call. At this point I'd like to sue though I have no record of items I stored with them ( I still may though). When I consider the situation now I realize I also was relieved my custom made BMX bike that I had spent time and money on as a kid. I imagine many more things were taken that I don't know about. Most of the things I did get are trash that I'm shocked anyone wanted to keep them for me (perhaps I can blame family for that). My belief is mostly all the good stuff was stolen by people that worked at Carroll's. All the art I have opened is garbage and my mother had some nice valuable pieces I remember. To rob somebody is one thing, a nasty thing. But to take money to safely store items for people and rob them is a whole other level of sin. I would therefore never recommend Carrol's for anything other than police investigation.

We had a great experience with Carroll's! After my grandmother passed we needed to have her items brought to Martha's Vineyard and Carroll's was the perfect choice. They were responsive and were so kind on the phone. The move was extremely simple and all I had to do was sign a few papers! 100% recommend!

Let me start by saying that the crew who came to pack us up and move us out were excellent - friendly, courteous, professional, very quick - everything we could have hoped for and more. So too was the crew who moved our belongings into our new house. Unfortunately we had to store our belongings with ********* for a week and therein lay the trouble. Several pieces damaged beyond use and belongings lost. And, ********* not willing to compensate us or make any kind of adjustment for the damage/loss. Granted we did not buy the \

I called 10 days ago and spoke with Ellis about my utilizing their services for my move. He asked what I had to move and I provided him with a list I had made as well as pictures he requested. I called the next day and asked if he had received them and he responded He had. Today I called looking for my estimate he had. He told me he would email an estimate by end of business today. . It's 10 O'Clock and I have not received an estimate. He said they had been busy. But so have I packing and waiting for his estimate. Do not lie to potential customers should you not want their work. No matter how busy you are. That is just pathetic business practices. Ellis you are an unethical business man and I will never recommend Carroll movers to anyone. I would have given you no stars if I could have.

Delivered a day later than contract, had to stay in hotel. Wasn't told until afternoon before. Very poor customer service.
