I was in the shop for less than a minute before the owner insulted me. Very mean and rude. I left right away. So upsetting.

Rude, patronizing, slimy. The owner is a creep. He'll over charge you and hold your bike hostage. I went there once. never again, and i tell people to stay away.

Stay away. The owner knows bikes but seems to take pleasure in lecturing at and belittling customers at length, treating you like an idiot child. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Read all the reviews below if you have any doubts.

This has to be the worst bike shop in the entire world. The owner has the social skills of a 4 year old and a bad attitude. Unhelpful, arrogant, and overpriced. I don't think any of these positive reviews could possibly true. There are many excellent bike shops on the island - this is not one of them.

I’ve been to many of the bike shops on the island over the years and I think Cycle Works is the best of the lot. While the prices are somewhat higher than you would pay off island, they are well below the other shops. The owner is also a lot more knowledgeable, polite, great with my nephew, and helpful than the other island bike shops.

John is really nice and super helpful. Store is well stocked and prices are in point (spent exactly what I thought I would.) He gave me great tips and we had a very pleasant conversation, would definitely come back & recommend to a friend, thanks John!

First read ALL the negative reviews here. John, the owner, is one of the most unpleasant people I've ever met. I had just had a fender bender in the Stop & Shop parking lot and was shaken up. I told him this and that I just wanted to drop off the bike for two new tires and tubes but he proceeded to lecture me for 20 minutes before he ever started filling out the intake slip. I told him I had run a bike shop of my own selling electric bikes in order to slow down his constant posturing and bragging about his skills, but it set him off. "Electric Bikes aren't bikes! They're glorified scooters and I won't touch them!" He proceeded to insult my intelligence, shamed me for not coming in February, when tuneups were discounted (although I told him I'd just gotten the bike the day before), tried (HARD) to sell me 5 or 6 unneeded items and insisted that I also get a "tune for safety" service. When I asked the price for that he said, I don't know till I get into it. When I asked him to call me with an estimate he said, "I don't do that." I really wanted my new tires, but mostly to get home and deal with my car accident. Every time I opened my mouth he was off on a negative rant, so I just shut up and waited for him to run out of steam. Fortunately another customer came in and I was able to escape. Once home, I read the reviews and all the people with similar experience whose bikes had been held hostage for hundreds of dollars. So I brought my big, pumped, hunk of a husband back to the store and we got the bike back (John hadn't started the work yet). We discovered that he hadn't even written "new tires and tubes" on the slip! He would have delivered the bike without the things I wanted done but with a tune up I hadn't requested. I dodged a bullet. So should you. Many other good shops on the island without being insulted, shamed, and manipulated. If you don't live on MV, ask an islander. He has a bad rep.

John wasted my time. I simply wanted to have two tires replaced on some bikes we keep for our renters. I brought them in as requested and then he told me that he wouldn't install tires in them because the backs were not of the quality (quality -- not condition) that he will work on. ( It did not occur to him to say something before me making the trip.) He then proceeded to lecture and pontificate as he did when I came into the store the day earlier (he seems to like to to do that -- he appears a little "off"). Steer clear of this place.

Great service ! We ride as tourists and he knows how to get you back on the road. Island wide service as the bus aka sag wagon stops right at the front door! ??♀️?

The owner is rude and creepy. While purchasing an overpriced helmet for myself, the owner lectured my young daughters on appropriate in store behavior ( even though they were patiently waiting and doing nothing wrong). The incident has had a lasting impression and scared my 3 year old. Definitely the worst bike shop on MV.

Totally overpriced,, they are taking advantage it is sad,, I always advocate for our small businesses but Cycle Worx is out of control with their pricing and labor. Go somewhere else we have plenty of other bike shops around that are fair.

Not too sure how skilled the owner is at fixing bikes but if you want to be chastised for your lack of planning for your trip with a bike that needs a quick fix, by a pompous, arrogant, and condescending individual, this guy is your guy. The only way we could get him to shut the f up was to walk out of his establishment mid-pontification. He will tell you that he is the only bike service on the island when in fact, he is not. Edgartown Bikes happily fit us in the next day, knowing that we were here only briefly.Go see Mike there, unless you’d like to be treated like a naughty child.#karma #kma
