I got a haircut from Colleen. She was nice, but I asked for shorter hair, which was a big change from my long/medium. I showed her a picture where the person had hair right about mid neck. Before she cut it, she then put her hands right at mid neck to show where she would cut it. I was very excited for this! So she asked if I was ready to commit and I said yes, and she cut it way shorter than I wanted it, to just below my chin. It was too late. I now need my hair to grow two inches before I will feel confident again. I also showed her that I have wavy hair but really only just wash it for care, and she said she would cut it so that it wouldn’t look not done if she cut it. It just looks a little messy and choppy (but not in a stylish way), and borderline uneven (which ironically is what I came in for, because my last hair stylist made my hair uneven).
If you’re getting the same haircut time and time again, I think she would be great. But if you’re looking to branch out and need time, attention, and guidance, then she is not the stylist for you, especially at a $77 price point.

Been going to Unique for years and I love the people and quality of work! I get a standard cut and color that comes out beautiful, and my stylist listens to what I want and helps me go for it!

This place was great! The stylist really listened, understood, and checked in as we went. She kept my hair long as requested and did not go rogue deciding I should actually try a cut akin to Jackie O's because it would suit my face better. The place is laid back, not highly strung. You don't feel rushed and they are very nice. And it smells like aveda to boot! Great product offering too. I've been *extremely* hesitant to get a real haircut for about two years since my last attempt at a different salon by a male-splainin' stylist (went very very very very badly). I'm finally ready to re-attempt a funkier cut after two years and a lot of trust building. :)

There are many hair salons in Wakefield, but this is my favorite of nearly 15+ years. I was referred to Colleen for a stylist after a lot of hesitation about color. I liked how she let the client lead the decision. Colleen and Caitlin since acquired this business which is a haven to go to, and I always feel refreshed, like my hair, and ready for anything. Thanks to Camille, master stylist who keeps it looking great, and Diana for her fabulous welcome and coversation while keeping all the bookings on track-text message reminders too. Aveda products.

This SALON is advertised as an Aveda salon. I'm so upset and depressed about what they did to my hair here I can hardly write this review. I went in with the formula from a salon in Portsmouth that did my hair beautiful. They did do only about six highlights but they did them in a natural way and literally had just strands pulled of hair that they did across the top. My hair processed for about 20 minutes max there. Because if the distance , knowing the salon gave me the formula, I decided to try this Aveda salon and I went to Camille. She said she worked there for 12 years so I thought great she should be very experienced. She wanted to charge me $10 more for the color which I thought odd since my gair is thin And it was med length. so $120 for a lob cut at my shoulder and color. She left me processing for 40 minutes I had to go to the front desk to ask am I done yet?? Plus The lights are very bright over the chairs and when I got home, omg! I couldn't believe how dark my hair was, I've never had my hair this dark and the reason I sometimes had a few highlights was to bring in some dimensions and make my hair appear thicker. Camille didn't have time that day, and thought I cld just come back. The more I looked at my hair the more I was upset my hair is thinning anyways I am in my 60s and the dark hair always would make my grays stand out like a sore thumb and my hair is a medium brown. I could also see the difference in color from the front to the bottom of my hair , it was so much darker near my part which looked horrible. I emailed asap and I requested a refund, to go somewhere else to have my hair fixed, but they said we don't give refunds and said we we would fix your hair!! I thought well I guess they don't guarantee their customers to be happy and I felt reluctant honestly since they already screwed up my hair once, but I had an event coming up the following week and thought maybe the highlights might do the trick but I knew how dark my hair was thinking the gray is really gonna look horrible with his hair when it comes in. Do you know if she didn't have a color in my whole head and she basically pulled it through with the end in the sink so I'm wondering why she needed the extra money for the extra color when you think about it! I went in a few days later and fixing did nothing but just mask or try to mask what they already did , she literally did six highlights, Spaced them out perfectly the same and definitely didn't take the time to make them look natural , and now I look like a skunk! Plus the highlight color is orangey brown. I guess when you go back for a fix and they do it for free they do anything possible to just get you out of the chair and on your way. What they don't realize is that we have to live with this hair and how it looks and wait for it to grow out!! Plus I have to wait and then go to another salon and pay another large amount of money just to have my hair highlighted and re-done after you ruined it! I thought you might like to see a picture of the way my hair looked after the salon in Portsmith that did my hair correctly and how my hair looks now after this salon got a hold of my hair! I will be putting a dispute with my bank against this salon. I don't believe in taking advantage of a customer!

Had such a great experience here, loved the environment, loved the people, and walked out feeling great! The salon itself was adorable and comfortably elegant. For folks looking for a great salon and don't know where to go, this place is affordable and stylists are talented. Caitlyn was super friendly and took what I thought I wanted and made it a reality. 5 stars, totally recommend!!!

Wow, my hair looks like I'm twenty again..very kind and caring staff yet so professional! They really know what they're doing and made me feel so welcome and comfortable. A little pricey for a color and a cut but I really needed it after a few months grown out... They're encouraging me to come in for maintenance and it looks so good, I just might... Plenty of parking along Albion St. My stylist was Mary Getchell but I suspect they're all great!

Tried this salon for a color consult and booked it a few weeks later. I was nervous about the color matching what I already had and wanted. Camille was precious with matching the color. Very kind and did a great job. Love that the use only Aveda products! This was my main reason for coming here.
