“I called Cluett’s Appliance Service today because my GE refrigerator was making a loud buzzing/motor noise and I was concerned it might be an electrical issue. We have a family member in the home who is unable to walk and oxygen-dependent, so we take anything that could be a fire hazard very seriously.
The service call would have cost $129, but before scheduling an appointment, the woman who answered the phone took the time to listen carefully to what was happening. Based on my description, she suggested that the ice maker, which is not set up, may have accidentally been turned on due to an overpacked freezer( which mine is). That this can create a similar noise in some refrigerators.
Sure enough, I checked the freezer, found that the ice maker was turned on. I turned it off, and have not heard the noise since.
She could easily have scheduled the service call and charged me for a visit, but instead she helped me solve the problem over the phone and saved me both money and a lot of worry. Honest businesses like this are hard to find. Because of her kindness, honesty, and willingness to help, Cluett’s will be the first company I call for appliance repairs in the future.
