Worst auto shop I've been too. I came in for a battery replacement, but they tried convincing me to leave my car overnight even though they hadn't even looked at my car. After telling them that was not possible, they tried convincing me again because my car was making a "weird sound." It's a good thing I know my car very well and told them I knew what that sound was, and that it was not a problem. Then they tried convincing me that my flashing clock was a sign of a huge problem. But the flashing clock was clearly due to the fact that I jump started my car that morning, something that I had told them on the phone AND in person. So they either tried taking advantage of a young female driver, or did not know anything about cars. I do not recommend this place unless you're male or have a lot of money to be scammed out of.

Got rejected for a state inspection due to loose lower ball joint. Took my car to my mechanic (Master Mechanic's in Natick). My mechanic agreed and performed the repair. Took it back to Akar and they finished up the inspection quickly. The tech at Akar showed me what was wrong (there was some play in the tire) and noted the issue on the inspection report. They were efficient for both visits. Will return for future inspections.

I came in for inspection sticker. Unfortunately rejected due to low thread and cracked bumper. Got a price on bumper replacement. Happy with the outcome. Highly recommend Wally and this auto service shop! Quick turnaround.

I bought a BMW X3 with a “check engine” light on and took it to 4 different garages, including the dealer and spent money foolishly and the light would always come back on. A friend of mine recommended I go see Johnny at Akar Auto Center in Wellesley and I did. Best move, the guy is a genius with cars I mean he fixed it in an hour and my car is running like a top with no more lighs. Hands down the best BMW independent repair shop I’ve ever been to, strongly recommend you bring your car to this place .

I had an older benz that no one could figure out what was wrong with it. I took it to John at Akar Auto Center and he had me back on the road in no time! The best around!

Very arrogant staff. In 2021 my wife tried to get inspection sticker for her Hyundai Elantra and they failed it. When she asked what failed, they insisted her to get a service appointment and not explain the reason for failure. It turned out to be that the fuel cap was not tight enough when we got it checked at dealership.I wanted to give another chance and tried to get my BMW inspection done in July 2023, tires were worn out and failed inspection. The main mechanic offered to sell new tires but I always get it from the dealership and had a better deal. When I went back to get the inspection pass sticker he was very arrogant. I got the sticker for May 2023, when asked for why, he was screaming and slamming on the wall that stated the rule change notification from MassDot on Nov 2022 instead of respectfully showing the rule. Perhaps he was mad I didn't buy tires from him so that he can rip me off.DONOT GO TO THIS PLACE. ARROGANT, RIP YOU OFF AND INCOMPETENT MECHANICS EVEN FOR INSPECTION. I THINK MASSDOT SHOULD REVOKE THEIR LICENSE FOR INSPECTIONS.Service: Vehicle Inspection

Brought in my car as I was new to the neighborhood And assumed others were using this shop. I was told my front breaks were due. I just had my rear brakes completely changed less than a year prior. cang prove it but never h I went back to have my front breaks done. It was an outrageous amount. After a week I noticed a strange noise. It developed over another month into loud banging. I took it back and was told my ENTIRE back break systems bad including my parking brake. It all needed to be replaced. Unreal. Brought in my car as I was new to the neighborhood And assumed others were using this shop. I was told my front breaks were due. My instinct s tell me some of the mechanics damage parts of your car to ensure you come back. iI have worked on cars my entire adult life and I can honestly say there is something fishy here. Came in for a sticker and got fleeced. Wish that I read the other reviews and could give a negative rating. Do not go here!!!! This is the story so you avoid being as stupid as me: went in for sticker and told by Wally the owner that the tires were bald and that the front bumper was broken. Thought this was weird since the car just had a 100K check up and everything was fine. Showed me the front end where the bumper appeared newly wrenched off. "Only need a small bracket." Was going to give a provisional sticker so I got it fixed there.~$1000 and many hours later, I get the car. Now it seems it needs brakes which had been recently replaced...no dice. Very suspicious that Wally gave me a regular sticker despite all the work that needed to be done right after a dealer tune up. Had to bring the car to the dealership since the front fog light cover fell off. Appears that it was broken off...perhaps when the fender was fixed with a zip tie and glue? Dishonest and shoddy work for top dollar. And it takes forever...please please please avoid. I NEVER bother to write reviews but I don't want anyone to waste their time and money on this guy. Shame on me for getting a sticker in Wellesley where shysters like Wally feel it's okay to prey on dopes like me!!!

3/3 stars for quality of work done0/2 stars for price, customer service, and conflict resolutionI asked for an oil change, and after 1 hour 15 minutes of waiting, was faced with a $99 bill for the work. I understand people need to make a living, but when you have a $25 service fee for a bunch of stuff that I didn’t ask for (the stuff that is normally complementary i.e. tire pressure check and fluids being topped off) AND up charge the oil… that’s just rude and indecent imo.Either make your money with a service fee, OR up charge the price of the oil and have the complementary stuff, complementary. But instead, I got $35-$40 worth of oil for $60 with a $25 service fee and a filter that totaled $99. Either the oil and filter, or the fair price of oil, filter, and service, and there’s no problem.Instead, I waited an 45-60 mins longer than an oil change should take. Then when I confronted the managers, they got defensive and I was asked to “never come back. We do not want your business here” to which I happily replied, “no worries”.FINAL TAKE: They say they do good work, and it appears to me that they do put in effort to do work they can take pride in. If you have deep pockets and don’t care to potentially overpay, then you’ll be fine here. But if you expect to be billed reasonably for the services provided (oil change in particular), I would look elsewhere until they adjust how they decide to profit off of these transactions.
