“Tom always has a beautiful and generous inventory. I like both his eccentricity and that of his lighting. His pricing is very reasonable. He is trustworthy. And, he has a great sense of humor! JH”

“I love this shop. About 80% of the furnishings at my Boston home are from Upstairs Downstairs. There, I’ve been able to find a mix of new and old (antique or vintage) items. The owner, Laura, is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and has a sophisticated and elegant taste. I can’t recommend this store enough. For those heavier items, they also ship and deliver.Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this is a MUST SEE in Boston.”

“My favorite place to be outside of my own home. What a fantastic environment - it's exactly the type of vintage/collectible store I was looking for. Bur it more than just a store - it's multi-vendor so there are different types of things everywhere you look and new stuff all the time. The folks who work at and run it are just great. So welcoming and kind. There are treasures just waiting to be found at every turn”

“I started out emailing Wayne about the many family heirlooms that I was told over the years had value. Before speaking with him I was completely overwhelmed because I had no idea what I should save or let go. Wayne was incredibly patient with me (still is!), and helped me to figure out all of it. Even if it wasn’t something he auctioned, he helped me find out it’s worth. I am so grateful for the time he spent with me. I tried for years to get someone to sit with me and help the way he did but couldn’t find anyone I trusted the way I trust him. Thanks Wayne!”

“A gem of a place. Quality people doing quality work. I asked them to glue up and refinish my reproduction antique tabletop. The purpose of the glue up was to turn the 4 pieces of the top into a solid piece. I had removed the skirt before bringing the pieces in. Dan Jr sent me back home for the skirt and they ended up fabricating the pieces to make a full 360 degree skirt. It looks amazing. Then they finished it all with a nice mahogany color stain and light gloss urethane.”

“I visited this antique shop on July 31st this year and purchased the book "The Bartevians: A Boston family." I am delighted to have had the opportunity to read through the history of Pat's family, which eloquently narrates the remarkable story of the family and witnesses the hardships that America went through during the Great Depression and World War II. Thank you Pat for allowing me to share in your rich life experiences.”

“I have a Black Forest cuckoo clock that I purchased in Heidelberg, Germany while I lived there in 1986. The clock has traveled the world with me since then but I've never had it serviced and it was beginning to have some problems (after 37 years). I took it to Ross for servicing and lubrication.Speaking with Ross, I could see that he's an experienced professional. Please keep in mind that he's not fast, he has quite a lot of clocks to work on (and he does the work himself), but he's thorough, courteous, and stands behind his work.I would highly recommend Ross to any individual needing work done on their personal clock(s), or professional entities needing work done on larger, more public clocks ~ he has news clippings showing the work he's done on several town clocks and, more notably, The Boston Customs House clock. He did an excellent job ! If you need this sort of service, this is the place to come to ~”

“You will find unique, beautiful old marine charts here. This is a great way to own and enjoy a bit of our history. I love the hand coloring on these charts. One of mine has a house drawn on it, and tiny writing that says "excellent clams to be had". Early 1800's. Decorating tip: We are collecting antique nautical charts and custom framing them similarly, and displaying them in a gallery group--- unique art for our home. BOB provides exemplary customer service and is glad to share his bountiful knowledge. I think if you go the store, you will actually be visiting a house Paul Revere did visit himself!”

“I had to take some time to write this and help promote Janice and Cal's cute little antique business in beacon hill. they are the sweetest elderly couple, super knowledgeable and explained to me the history behind each of their pieces. shop has a lot to offer but specializes in antique procelains. I bought a beautifulChinese embroidery from them 2 yrs ago and my mom got a pair of Dresden Lamb cup sets today. both will be treasured for years to come. makes me sad that there isn't more shops like this in this mass produced world.(the husband got yelled at for giving us too much of a discount so l gotta help him out here lol)”

“Stopped by this little shop on the way home from the Cape towards Boston. It wasn't too far off of the highway so it was pretty convenient. The owner of the shop was a nice lady. There was plenty of items to look at, almost too many to be able to do a thorough look through. She was able to ring us up as soon as we were ready. Wouldn't mind coming back here again.”

“An absolute gem of a store with lovely customer service and very good prices. I bought a pair of fireplace andirons and they were also willing to place a larger furniture piece on hold for me for a couple of days so that I can check I have a good spot for it. I could have spent a fortune in there, there are so many treasures ... lovely furniture, so many interesting and unique smaller items, rugs, a whole MCM section. I will be a regular customer for sure!”
