Had a friend pass away. Found out Monday - services were Thursday so I brought my suit in. They were friendly and quoted me Wednesday afternoon for the suit. Great. I work late on Wednesdays but they open at 8am Thursday so that's just enough time to scoot in, get my suit and head for my funeral. I arrive at 8 on Thursday to find no one at the place. 8:05, 8:10, 8:15 just an hours sign mocking me telling me they're open at 8. Meanwhile my funeral is at 10 in Quincy. Finally at 8:26 a worker shows up. Gives a half assed apology and I pay for my cleaning and leave. Cleaning was fine- but be open when you're supposed to be open - reliability is a skill.

The new owner is not a very good owner. He literally said that he doesn't want to hire someone with a disability. The interview was suppose to be like 5-10 mins and it took a half hour and then never got back to me I had to call to find out. The new owner does not know how to communicate with anyone.

I had my suit cleaned for a family funeral and had forgotten my dad's gold wedding band I was given when he passed away was in the pocket. I was shocked when they said they found it cleaning the suit and gave it back. Such a simple gesture but yet so rare nowadays. I will be forever grateful to these honest people and wish all good things on them.

They did a good job with pressing my suit but I brought the suit in with hangers that are designed for the suit and they gave me wire ones in return

There is a new owner at Varkys. I have trusted this owner for years in Hopkinton for all my dry cleaning. I just moved to the area and went to pick up my shirts and saw that familiar face. I know that Varkys will be a great place because of the high standard the new owners will bring to the neighborhood.

I brought 4 pairs of my husbands pants to be altered over a week ago it’s now September 26 and I still don’t have them back I talked to the owner and he said he was going to find out what was going on and call me back ! I never herd back from him and on top of it all the person who took my my pants and alteration instructions had know idea what I was saying I had to right it down myself and the best part is that she told me the alterations on the pants were going to be 13 dollars a pair and when I went in to pick up my order that wasn’t ready a different person told me that they were 24 dollars a pair ! They need to get there act together! I still do not know we’re the pants are !Services: Leather & suede cleaning

Dropped off my new suit to get pressed and get the tags cut off. This is what I received when I went to pick up my suit. Looks like they just cut off the tag with some scissors and didn’t use a seam ripper. I complained and told them that I needed the tags out and they said OK you can drop it back off again it’ll be another couple days. I told them that I have a wedding the next day and couldn’t drop it off again. The young employee just kind of shrugged her shoulders.

Varky's is under new management and they need to improve and fast. I brought in a pair of pants and specifically asked they NOT be creased. The clerk clearly wrote that on the slip. However when I picked them up they were unfortunately creased. I later brought in a shirt to be cleaned and pressed. I was told it would be ready on Friday after 2. On Friday after 2 I arrived to pick up my shirt. It was NOT ready. Something about a broken boiler and they could not confirm when I would receive my shirt. UNACCEPTABLE!Avoid this dry cleaners.

I have been in the Army for the past 8 years and I will be leaving for training shortly, I dropped 5 uniforms off to have patches sewn on. 3 patches per uniform x 5 uniforms, would be 15 patches. The owner stated that it would be $5 a patch (Roughly $75) I thought this price was a little steep but they stated they would have the uniforms ready by last Friday (6/24/22) for pickup. I stated I just wanted the patches sewn on no cleaning. On Saturday (a day after they were set to be picked up) around 11am I sent a family member to pick them up and they were not ready. they stated to come back. They were ready prior to 2pm and my family member picked them up. When the charge came out it was $135, $60 dollars more than quoted. I tried calling over several days to rectify the discrepancy, they did not have an accurate number online or on their Facebook. I physically went down to the store around 8am on Friday July 1 and the teller agreed that the price was to much and didn't make sense. She stated she would have the owner call me when he got in. Around 12pm he called and immediately raised his voice and started yelling at me telling me I was wrong and that he said it would be between 5 and 8 dollars (which he never said) I stated 15x8 would still be $120, he offered to credit me $15 for future purchases. I informed him those prices are absurd. For any of those in the Army you understand that those patches are not large patches and can be quickly sewn on. Had I had more time before I left I would have dropped them off on a military base and it would be far cheaper. On top of that there thread work was sloppy and there was several loose threads. I told the owner I would not be doing business with Varky's again and that his treatment of service members is disgusting and hung up the phone. He then proceeded to call me repeatedly yelling and he only stopped after I threatened to press harassment charges. I always love to support local businesses and have worked for several in this town growing up here, I will never support this business and I hope you will not either.

They do a good job, but the older woman with brown hair that is usually at the desk is very rude! The lack of customer service has made me decide to look elsewhere for a dry cleaner, even though this one is literally a mile and a half from my house. She took the time to complain about my husband to me when I was picking up his dry cleaning. What was her complaint, you ask? That he wanted his dry cleaning same day like it says on their sign... He then asked about next day service but was taken aback when she said it would be a week. He pushed back and said he needed his clothes sooner than that and it annoyed her. Even if they had a disagreement, do not complain about one customer to another. It's bad etiquette. Especially when they're married and can compare notes on negative interactions. I won't be recommending anyone else go here. Quite the opposite.

Per my suggestion, my husband took his suits to Varky's to be cleaned. He has a medical exemption and upon his arrival to pick them up the employee mocked him asking him if he was "special" over and over very aggressively. My husband was taken aback and asked her if she woke up on the wrong side of the bed or was this the way she greeted all the customers. She then proceeded to call him an ---hole and refused to serve him at which point the owner came from the back (maskless, I might add) and gave my husband his suits. Oddly no one said a thing when he dropped off his clothing maskless a week prior. I am disgusted by the ignorance exhibited and will no longer recommend Varkys.
