If you are not a white American, stay away from that racist RMV in Wilmington, MA. Road test examiners are the worst ones over there. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

The guy at the front desk couldn't have been any ruder or mean. He actually seemed to enjoy telling customers that their forms were not in order. I have been here a number of times and that one guy is AWFUL. Some of the other employees are fine but he is so miserable it ruins it for all!

Gail and general staff I've interacted with 5/5Mark L, the manager 0/5I had to go to the RMV 6 times to get my name change court order successfully processed. (Only changing first name.)First time, I stupidly assumed I could go to RMV with my valid license and the court order, RMV would review the court order from MA district court, then update my valid unexpired MA license. Wrong. Even though given I'd already proved citizenship, residence, etc to get the otherwise valid license, the process dicates that I resubmit everything to prove it again.Second time, I show up with my completed application form, valid unexpired license, name change order, proof of citizenship (birth cert, passport, social security card), and proof of residency (renters insurance). Computer for verifying SSN is down.Third time, I come back the paperwork is reviewed, and while all documentation is still considered legal unexpired and valid, the social security card doesn't have my new legal name so I must go change that first. Marc L threatens to have security drag me out because I had audacity to argue and show him the RMV and social security websites where it said otherwise.(I go to the social security office, they say I must update with RMV first, something about marriage/divorce licenses process and first name only court order name changes following different processes. I explain I tried to go to MA RMV but was told I needed new SSN first. Social security office calls some people, eventually I guess they decided convincing MA RMV/DOT to comply is a waste of time/effort. Instead they submited some special form detailing why they want to breach social security office policy, requesting authorization, and detailing the extensive other documentation I provided to prove my identity. Fast forward and my updated SSN card has bow arrived.)Fourth time at RMV, with all my paperwork, some computer system stops working and I'm sent away. (I don't have to to update now before I travel via plane, so I wait a few months. Plane tickets must be booked under legal name on government issued photo identification, and cannot be reissued due to name change without canceling and rebooking under new price.)Fifth time at RMV, I don't make an appointment because I forgot that unlike the previous years pre-COVID where appointments did not exist and everything was walk-in only; now only appointments are allowed even though COVID is now endemic and all other policies have been reversed. Marc L again dismisses me, claims no record of my prior visits, begrudgingly makes me a follow up appointment, and rudely dismisses questions on what names must be on the various documents saying yeah yeah thats all fine without even looking up.Gail who was on greeter duty kindly took time to ensure another employee Lewis reviewed with me what documents and names were needed for my appointment.Return for visit six with all the documentation detailed by Gail and Lewis, am seen and processed for name change then update car title, all the while Marc L is pacing behind people telling them they are working too slowly.Office seems like a truly miserable place to work due to Marc L constantly berating employees and just being rude and obstructive to people requesting assistance.I suspect Marc probably tells all the employees and RMV to just escalate issues to him to be a "stress sham-wow", move problem cases out of the general lines, and keep things moving. Fair enough, he runs a very busy office and it's critical to keep things moving, but at a certain point he seems far more interested in clearing the RMV then with ensuring that people are actually getting assistance with issues or that people are effectively being processed. Some common sense recommendations for RMV mgmt, 1. Add computers to aid/support self check-in 2. Allow people to scan, submit, and key in documents from home, even if bringing in the originals. 3. Utilize OCR for common forms and stop having employees key in things like VINs 4. Evaluate and address reasons for repeat visits

The attitude of the road test instructors is palpable. I would have done way better if the person next to me wasn't giving me an insane amount of anxiety.

I’m a small business owner. I do a few transactions a year. About a month ago I went to register a newly purchased vehicle and I explained to the lady at the entrance that she was extremely nice provided me a ticket. Waited for my turn and finally went to the window which I was called to started doing the work I was supposed- by the way I’m respectful to everyone especially to the customer service representatives as I know it’s one of the hardest jobs in my opinion however Mark L is the worst customer service person I have ever seen in my whole life. He’s rude bullying and racist. He told me that I was supposed to go to the business window and get my work done over there and I said I’m sorry I did not know that. Anyways he did the work for me during the entire time insulting me and talking very nasty. Today 03/22/2023 went there again and I specifically told the girl at the first entry that I’m a business owner and the vehicle is commercial where should I go she said you are fine and gave me the ticket for two transactions. Bad luck was called to window number 7 and Mark L again had the same old attitude and was telling me how I was supposed to go from business to business window and was waiting from 3:48 pm to finally 4:50 pm. Long story short he did one of my registration and simply told me to have a good day and come for the second one tomorrow. What a horrible customer service also the manager at the location was walking by while I was asking Mark if he could please do the second vehicle since I wasted 4-5 hours of my time to get the work done he(manger)simply said you got to go it’s done/over that is it. I AM THE BIG DOG CALLED HIMSELF. Unbelievable the manager at this location simply kicks out customers and bullies them so as well goes for the rest of the staff working at this location. Believe it or not, even security guards are treating customers like garbage. There’s a serious problem here someone needs to look into this and do something about it. I'm sure the Surveillance system is working at this location.

"2nd times a charm"Let me begin with this. It took two tries for me to get my license. I am going to be objective as possible explaining everything. During my first attempt, back on November 16th, the RMV driving test lady, set a very uptight and militant tone. I understand that certain criteria must be met by each license applicant, and I respect her decision on failing me the first time for not being able to successfully parallel park behind the blue truck. It was a serious ego blow, but she did take the time out of her day to explain my shortcomings. I know everyone has a different personality and I do not ever want to change somebody for who they are, however I did not want to have her my second time around. Which brings me to today, 12/28. I passed my test today. I worked tirelessly with my mom to understand the mechanics of parallel parking. We arrived 30 minutes early and were able to witness drivers on their road test in the parking lot across the street. Upon entering the parking lot of the RMV, it appeared that the final test element was parallel parking on the side of the building. I was prepared for my test this time. To my sunrise, I was greeted by a professional male, not intimidating in the least. He was cordial and took all the necessary paperwork and instructed us to wait as they processed the paperwork. I was instructed to go to my vehicle and my sponsor was to sit behind me with my paperwork present on the dashboard. To my surprise, 2 instructors approached the vehicle. I was informed that Joani was in training and w asked if I was ok with her taking the lead with the senior instructor sitting in the backseat. I agreed. To my surprise, Joani was kind, positive, and efficient. I would give her a 5 star rating. Please note, I did have to complete, all of the requirements: vehicle checklist including ebrake test, 3 point turn, backup straight, hill stop with emergency brake, and a parallel park. I completed all with confidence and upon completion was granted my license. She did her job and I was prepared this time. In retrospect one MUST be prepared to fulfill all necessary tasks in order to receive a license at the RMV. It can be heart braking to not get it the first time, but keep note of what you need to work on and it will click. It will. Just believe in yourself. You got this.

This place is the most horrible place on earth.I went there for a driving test, and the guy who was the driving inspector was the most RUDE RACIST person I have ever encountered with. During the driving test, he asked us to pull over right after we left the RMV parking lot. Maybe about 7 minutes walk from the lots and we did. He told us that I didn’t stop at the stop sign that was on the ground back at the parking lots which I did and even took to long. When I told him yes I did, he got mad, open the car door, left without saying anything and did even shut the car door. He left it wide open and walked all the way back to the RMV. We were shocked, but not surprised because we were two black immigrants with limited English. I did get a chance to get his name and picture.

I can't believe I'm giving an RMV 5 stars but this location is best local rmv thus far. Super organized. Our appointment started on time and without issue. Staff is polite everything was done without delay. If your ready with everything you need when you walk in, you will be done so quick.

I thought it was going to be horrible, but it was the opposite... everyone was so friendly & competent -- surprised this is a government office!
