Annie's Book Stop of Worcester is the only independent general-reading bookstore in Worcester. It offers a wide range of genres including Science Fiction, Romance, Horror, Suspense, Adventure, Biography, and Literature, along with two full rooms dedicated to children's books. The store is packed with many used and new books, often discounted at least 50% off retail prices. Used books are very affordable, with prices as low as $1.00 for select titles and around $2.99 to $3.99 for used hardcovers. New books from publishers and wholesalers are discounted at least 20%. The store frequently hosts events with local and national artists, authors, and entertainers, usually one or two each week, many for children. Though small, the store is creatively laid out to fit as many books as possible, creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere for book lovers. Visitors can find many books, especially in genres like cozy mysteries, and discover some hard-to-find titles. However, the children's picture books can be messy and challenging to browse due to clutter and small section headers. The pricing system can be confusing, requiring a key to understand discounts, but staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, Annie's Book Stop of Worcester is a charming place with personality, offering a wide selection of books and engaging events, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone looking to enjoy the world of books.
When you walk in you get a sense that whoever own this place really loves books. I went to pick up a copy of The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson. They had a special on new books, so I was able to get a new copy and it ended up being very inexpensive. My new go to place in worcester for books. Check it out!
