Higgins Store, now under new ownership, has reopened and is seen as a much-needed addition to Alden. Located in the heart of the town, it features a neat layout with an attached ice cream stand. While some customers miss the previous charm, many appreciate the fantastic ice cream, noting its intense flavors and lower prices compared to other local shops. Although there are fewer flavors available and no "mixer" machine for blended treats, the store offers a selection of scoops, malts, and shakes. Outdoor seating is available, making it a cozy spot for customers to enjoy their treats. Overall, Higgins Store aims to regain its great reputation in the community.

Such a fun stop! The ice cream was so good and the service was even better… Butch helped our group of 9 girls with cones and taffy #totallegend. Prices were super reasonable… 99¢ for a waffle cone?! I’m sold. They had all the classics and some premium flavors too… highly recommend the Traverse City Cherry Fudge.... read full comment

Good ice cream. We have been camping up north for 35 years and always go to Higgins a few times a week while we are here. All the staff are friendly. We enjoy getting ice cream then walking down to Torch Lake to enjoy the sunset.
