Well, after the owner of the company threatened to sue me for "slander" I'll make sure everything I say in here is the truth. So after agreeing to a spec sheet that said about a 6 month build time, our home was built in 1 year 5 months and 22 days. The owner likes to deflect any and all responsibility and say we built around a moat and took a long time to get power. He fails to acknowledge that once the foundation was put in, I was over there every day with my personal generator pumping out the water. My wife and I were charged for "Pump Basement" for the tune of four figures which turned out to be $50 per hour. We were charged a "winter" charge for over $200 (still no idea what it was for). We got another pump (water) charge for another four figures from the "contractor", but this was a nice deal because he only charged us $33 per hour! Again I say, I was out there everyday pumping it myself...not sure where these hours were put in. He said he did us a favor by not drawing on our loan to ease the burden, but fails to mention that he took an initial $80,000 from our down payment that was over $150,000.I went to the build site almost everyday and thank goodness I did. The basement concrete contractor was nice enough to approach me and advise me that I had mold growing in the basement. I took it upon myself to spray the joists and place fans in the basement to keep air flowing. We since learned that another customer had the exact same problem and is still dealing with mold issues. We were charged for an extra basement window and barn door we never agreed to. Along with the cost of the door and window we were also charged a "change order" for BOTH. Their response, "Well somebody had to agree to it." He suggested to remove brick on our house in order to save money, again charged us a change order. This was agreed to just after the well was dug and house wasn't close to being started! My wife also wrote a review on this.....builder.....too. I personally asked multiple times about the financials and only twice did I receive a response. Once in Jan 2023 and the other a few days before final draw. In Jan. they provided us a estimate which showed us over $25k in the black. Four months later we just shy of $20k in the red! AFTER last draw they gave us a bill that had work that was done 11 months ago (May 2022). When asked why am I seeing this bill now they responded that they couldn't keep track of everything at all times (something to that effect). I thought that was a part of the builders job. When I told them that I would be putting them on 'blast', that is when the aforementioned slander comment came in. Google definition of slander, "make false and damaging statements about (someone)." I stress the "false" in that statement.Had we known of the overages, at any given time, we would've changed our selections. Had we known that they would only respond to 50% of our emails and questions we never would've built with them. They mention that I sent them emails on the progress....because at that point (1 yr 3 months) I was happy to see work being done, wouldn't anybody?!We kept ALL texts and emails sent and received to back up every claim on our reviews. Their response to my wife's review couldn't be more stark in contrast to the responses we received throughout the build. We asked MULTIPLE times when our house would be done but they said they couldn't answer that. At one time the owner said only when the power was on the house he could answer that. So I posed the hypothetical, "in the land of fairies and unicorns" if the power was put on the house tomorrow how long would it take. His response, "90 days." Well the power was put on Oct 6th 22. Water had nothing to do with that. There were several other issues but I'm reaching my character limit.I'm not going to tell you to USE or NOT use this builder. If you've made it this far in my review, take my wife and my review int

Very poor communication. Constant deflection of responsibility and rude to a customer who paid money to have a house built. I have many text messages and emails that I have printed and saved where I was treated rude and unprofessional. At one point I was even called ungrateful. Constantly telling us to buy things and we will receive a credit for it in the end. On the paperwork we supposedly got the upgraded molding, well he wrote down the wrong size of the upgraded molding. So now what we thought we were getting upgraded on we actually had to pay out of pocket for. ($1,100 more) I kept asking for in person meetings with Dave, all of which did not happen. (Per our contract if you have an issue or dispute about something you can request an in-person meeting.) I have emails and texts to show proof of this.We were told we owed a huge amount of money when it came time to finally allow us to move into our house. When we kept asking how we were on our budget did we get the information? After several times of asking yes, we finally did in Jan 2023 we did get our budget information. Then four months later we owed money.....lots of money. If we were over budget, why were we not talked about this months ago??????????? Also, when doing change orders, the homeowner is supposed to be aware of the change orders and supposed to sign on them. I never was told we had change orders and never was told to sign them. The "professional" cleaning company they had clean the house, did not do a good job. We had a bird in the house, and they did not clean up the bird p*** on the windows and mantles. Barely cleaned the floors and left the fireplace a mess with glue all over it. I really wish I could give a better review then this. I wish I did not have a bad experience, and I wish that I could say I would recommend building a house. I do not recommend it at all. Lastly did you know it is my fault that my house took so long to be built? Because we built on a moat.....that is what I was told. No accountability. No apologizes. NOTHING. Could never get an idea of when my house was going to be done. This has been the worst experience of my family's life.Service: Home building

We are very happy with our new Envy Custom Built Home. Building in a rural area presents different challenges. Dave’s experience helped us to navigate these as they came up. He takes great pride in building energy efficient homes and spent time with us while planning the build, ensuring our home was built to that high standard. Our Project Manager Pam was very easy to work with. She was always quick to respond whenever we contacted her. Pam was very patient with all of our questions and helped direct us during each phase of the build. Envy Homes has done a great job of vetting contractors, as it really shows in their craftsmanship. Their work was top notch.Service: Custom home design

We cannot say enough great things about Envy Homes! We Love, Love, Love our custom built home!! Everyone at Envy was with us every step of the way, from listing our home, searching for the right piece of property to build on, designing the perfect layout and building our magnificent home. It was key for us to use local people in this build and Envy's trades are some of the very best in Michigan for sure. The quality and craftsmanship shines everywhere here. Now every project is not without a few hiccups and this one was no different, however the handling of said hiccup is a testament to Dave's professionalism and experience. Any and all of our questions and concerns were addressed almost immediately and he, along with our awesome project manager Pam, helped us immensely trying stay on task, and budget. We highly recommend Envy to all our friends & family and would use them again in a heartbeat!

I am so happy that I chose Envy Homes as the builder of my new home! I can't say enough about how smooth the process went for me. As a widow, I was nervous about tackling such a big project by myself, but from the very beginning the staff eased my anxieties. They walked me through the whole process, step by step. It really is such a beautiful home. I am now able to enjoy my new home and be closer to my children and grandchildren. Thank you Envy Homes!
