Took our Shih Tzu in because he hadn't eaten in 6 days and wanted nothing to do with his food. We had to wait 6 days because Switzer doesn't work with people regarding budgets and payments. Money before animal welfare. I explained that I thought he had a sore mouth and that's why he wasn't eating. I was told that "sore mouths don't stop them from eating" and they decided that he had pancreatitis. Many pet websites list disinterest in foods with sore mouth. But what do we know? They immediately started with X-rays and blood test. Thee most expensive tests of course. X-rays we're good. Still sure of pancreatitis. Blood tests come back all levels are good, even the pancreatitis test. They then treat for dehydration and anti nausea and send him home. Not once did they feel it was his mouth. Our dog still not eating. This vet cares little about care. They just want your money. We are going to use a different vet from here on out.

They over-charge for their time while claiming to care about animals, they will not return your money even when they fail to provide basic care, they pretend to know more than they do, they all attended a university known for animal abuse, they take advantage of a technocratic system that makes it illegal for people to treat their own pets, their receptionists are rude, will hang up on you if you don't accept them telling you your animal is not in critical condition even if you tell them it is turning blue and going cold, if you ask too many questions they will act like it's none of your business, if you tell them you want to learn how to treat your exotic animals the best on your own they will act like you're insane... and tell you to get some degree... they have no problem raising their brows at you and then cackling as they walk away like some psychopath...

Happened to be in town for family emergency and unfortunately it turned into a pet emergency too. Called the vet and they called me back right away. It was after hours and during the coronavirus but Dr. Ryan didn't rush or hurry through the visit. He took care of my little dog like she was his and charged me fairly for the services. My little pug Lexi made a full recovery. This office comes highly recommended and we will use them again shall we ever need vet services while visiting Alpena. Thanks for everything.

We are recent to the area full time. We took our FIV cat there. That staff was very helpful and kept his stress as low as possible for a vet visit. They were quick with the results and their recommendations we spot on. We will continue using them for our other kitties as well.
