Always I feel happy and comfortable having my hair styled. It is a relaxed time, a happy time and my hairdresser is very kind and good at what she does. This time I even had a hand massage! It is a great place!

In all ym adult life I have never been to the same hair stylist twice. Usually it's not by any fault of the stylist, but I just haven't been impressed enough to make the effort of returning to the same person.
I enjoy Aveda, their philosophy, their products, (their tea!), but I was most impressed with Ariel.
She was professional and friendly; easy to chat with, but she didn't fill the comfortable silence with nervous talking or too many hyper-personal details about her life (iykyk). She paid special attention to the detail of my hair and went above and beyond to style.
She was so sweet and I enjoyed my time in her chair, when haircuts otherwise feel like a chore. I booked my next cut with her at checkout.

I had a great time at Douglas J Kerrytown today! I highly recommend Ariel for a haircut, she was so sweet and understanding. I even came back for a re-touch later in the afternoon, and she was so kind about the whole thing! One of the best hair washes I’ve had at a salon, I appreciated the minimal conversation because that’s what I like for hair appointments, and I even got a complimentary hand massage! Overall, an excellent experience!

I had a haircut here and it was amazing, Laiken was very friendly and I felt comfortable as a man in a salon. There was people of all shapes and sizes and I felt comfortable speaking about my style and tastes. The customer service at the front desk was great and the atmosphere was very friendly.
I will note that these are students working at the salon so everyone's experience will differ and to keep that in mind.

My sister went to get her hair cut and get curtain bangs after growing out her hair for 2 years and it was botched by Kathleen. This was on her birthday too. Kathleen even made remarks to her like oops I cut the middle too short and well it will grow out in a couple weeks. She was so shocked and had such bad anxiety she couldn’t even say anything, and clearly anyone with a decent eyesight would notice that her bangs were uneven and looked terrible. She paid 50 dollars for this monstrosity. Of course Aveda called and offered her a free cut and wash (after she finally called to make a complaint) but they “couldn’t” offer her a refund. Clearly she will not be returning and here is some advice if you decide to go there and they give you Kathleen, ask for a different stylist because clearly she needs to go back to cosmetology school since she can’t do a basic cut or bangs.
