The Ark is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the enrichment of the human spirit through the presentation, preservation, and encouragement of folk, roots, and ethnic music and related arts. The Ark provides a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all people to listen to, learn about, perform, and share music, presenting over 300 shows each year from the best contemporary and traditional musical artists in a state-of-the-art acoustic listening room. Described as an "amazing gem" and "one of the best small venues around," The Ark is a fantastic venue for live music. The sound system is always top-notch, and they bring in great talent, such as Ana Popovic and Matt Nathanson, who have delivered great shows. The intimate and respectful atmosphere, with seating and the opportunity to meet the artists afterward, makes The Ark a unique and special place to hear live music. Despite a few minor drawbacks, such as the policy on recording and taking photographs, the closing of concessions midway through the show, and the seating layout not being clearly noted, The Ark is a gem of a venue with a rich history and a unique atmosphere that music enthusiasts should not miss.
