I thought Uhaul was a reputable business. We rented a truck for a day. They said it got 10 miles per gallon, and tank was half full. We drove 27 miles. Filled it up to half a tank with 3 gallons of gas. So we gave them bonus gas Then they charged us for 5 gallons of gas. So according to them the trick gets 3 miles per gallon. After much arguing, the only way we got our money back was because we had a photo. I guess this is how they make money by ripping people off.

You can rent trucks for moving over here. It was easy to use. We booked the UHaul online based on the number of hours. And then we went here to pick up the truck. We walked to the counter through the customer entrance gate. They gave us the keys and receipt. We picked up the truck and on a link that we received, we checked in the condition of the vehicle and we were set to go. It took us around 10-15 mins at the counter.

I came to this U-Haul location needing to move my apt which was currently being stored at a U-Haul storage location in DC to Ann Arbor. Brandon (the manager) was able to get me set up with a U-Box, movers in dc, and I was able to get things set up so I didn’t have to be in DC for the boxes to be loaded up (a friend was present for the packing and had to have a key). This move was not planned and was extremely stressful. But everyone at this U-Haul location was incredibly helpful, accommodating, and made an unforeseen move stress free!

The young man who helped us this morning did an excellent job with making sure we were well attended and followed through with delivering the truck to the front of the lot. He explained things very well and was clear and positive. My husband and I were impressed with him and his service. I wish we caught his name!

Refused to give a quote for a trailer without taking all of my info.....he says the computer won't tell me how much without all of your info.....like come on....I know you know how much your trailers are per day

I can only speak to their propane "refill" process and sales. I have actually been buying propane from them for years which has required. lot of patience. Nobody responds to the little button you are supposed to push to get some service. Then if you go inside you wait for someone to get off the phone. Then they say they'll get someone to help you asap, and you wait some more. Today, I finally decided they aren't worth the aggravation and left. Across the street at the welding supply place I was in and out in 5 - 10 minutes with an exchange cylinder. If it cost me more, it wasn't much based on my past refill cost experiences at uhaul. The place is understaffed or undertrained or both. Either way I will do my best to avoid doing business with them again,

Waited over an hour to but a mattress cover to move. More than 20 people waiting in line with 2 workers. Would NOT rent from here, and especially not go here to buy moving items. Not at all worth the wait. Uhaul needs a self service check out station for people who aren't renting vehicles. Attempted to check out online, with no avail. Management need to fix this issue, or hire more people. Definitely losing my business for good.

I made an online reservation for a pickup truck, with this being the only location nearby that had equipment available. I completed the online check-in to "save time" on the day of pickup. I then called the 1-800# on the Uhaul reservation to confirm and was told I was "all set for your reservation tomorrow at S. State St." On the morning of my reservation, I called the location to see if there was any chance it was available earlier in the day. I was told no, but then told to contact scheduling because they made an error and my truck wasn't available at all. When I called scheduling, she offered little assistance, and basically told me the truck wasn't available because many college kids are moving. She then insisted that the reservation was never confirmed, despite the fact that I had a text message on my phone confirming it was. She also told me that they are aware their system lets people double book equipment, so they are offering a $50 discount for people to pick up their equipment at a different location. The location with availability was 90 miles out of the way (which they would then charge me an additional $71 for extra mileage). We ended up cancelling our reservation and using a Menards rental truck. After reading the reviews, it seems they do this often. I would not recommend making a Uhaul reservation, as they do not honor them on the day of pickup.

This place is ridiculous. Waited over 45 minutes just to return a truck. Unacceptable! The one person working was trying to help, but her systems were so slow she needed to take 15 minutes with each customer... They really need more than one person working inside when it is move-in week. Be aware... Need to do better...

never had a good experience at this location. reserved a van and storage unit and they gave both of them away, only ever have 1 person working the check in desk, have never taken less than 40 minutes to just pick up a truck

This was the absolute worst Uhaul experience I have ever had!1. There was only one person processing customers at a time when there were several customers in line. With about five customers in line ahead of me to begin, it took an hour to be served. There were several other Uhaul employees just standing around waiting to be told to fetch something or run errands. But only one person was at the computer processing customers on a Friday morning/afternoon.2. The one person at the computer processing customers kept breaking away from his job to text message someone and take personal phone calls which made the wait unnecessarily even longer. After each time he finished with his cellphone, it took him a minute to figure out where he was and what he was supposed to be doing on the computer.3. When it was my turn in line, he assigned me a unit (1127, I think). When I went out to the unit, it already had a chrome lock on it. It was already occupied. I went back inside and waited 20 minutes for him to finish with a customer.4. When it was my turn again, he searched on the computer then told me he doesn't have any units. I told him that I had a reservation and asked how can they not have any units if I have a reservation. He then told me that they were over-sold and that since my reservation was free that I don't have a unit. My mind was absolutely blown. I told him that doesn't make any sense at all. I said that the Uhaul website offered me a free month's rental on a confirmed reservation for a unit. I told him that the Uhaul website didn't say anything about being oversold or that my reservation was pending or on standby for a unit to come available. I told him that the Uhaul website didn't say that if I accept the free month's rental that I would be put on standby instead of having a confirmed reservation for an existing unit. I told him that this was extremely bad business.5. I asked him to cancel my reservation. He told me he already did.I have had a long-standing relationship with Uhaul at other locations around the country. This, by far, was the absolute worst. It was embarrassing. Fortunately, there were other storage companies with available space on short notice without a reservation. I went with Cube Smart down the street. Their prices were reasonable, and their staff was extremely helpful.Thank you for allowing me to submit a review and report of what happened last week.Sincerely,J. Reeves

I was here earlier to pick up the "apartment moving kit" and wanted to quickly commend Brandon, the manager at this location, and his employees. I witnessed and experienced nothing but professionalism and respect from this location, even when a customer's unnecessary outburst/tantrum created stress throughout the store and a long delay. What should have been a quick trip in the store turned into a hour-long trip. Despite everything, Brandon kept his composure and remained a leader. His employees were great and tried to stay positive and communicative with customers in line. I hope this team knows how much they're appreciated.
