I’ve lived in Uptown for a year now, and overall, my experience here has been positive. The community is warm and friendly. I’ve gotten to know my neighbors by name, and we regularly chat about everything from our kids to our pets and gardening tips. It’s nice to feel connected in that way.
The amenities and the general upkeep of the complex are solid, and I enjoy the sense of safety and comfort here. However, there is one aspect that has caused some frustration for me: communication from the rental office, especially when it comes to the rules outlined in the lease agreement.
While I completely understand the need for certain rules to maintain the community’s aesthetic and harmony, the enforcement of some of these rules feels a bit oppressive at times. For instance, I recently received a letter instructing me to remove a small, non-intrusive hummingbird feeder I had placed in a planter on my porch. The feeder wasn’t attached to anything permanently—it was simply nestled within my plants. The letter stated that if I didn’t comply by a certain date, they would enter my apartment to remove the item for me, ensuring that it wasn’t visible to the owners during their walk-through. To be totally fair I had a see through bird house hoping a bird would take rest there if even just a few minutes on my window. I simply released the suction cup and sat it on my table. Still not breaking any rules.
While I do respect the need to follow guidelines, the idea of someone coming into my home to remove an item that doesn’t disrupt the space or the neighbors feels excessive and not entirely appropriate. It’s especially concerning given how the request was framed, making it seem as though every minor choice I make to personalize my living space could be subject to scrutiny.
I wish there was more flexibility in allowing residents to express themselves within the boundaries of maintaining a peaceful community. Clearer, more open communication would go a long way in easing concerns like mine and making residents feel heard and respected.
All in all, this is a decent place to live with wonderful neighbors, but the heavy-handed communication regarding minor personal touches can be a bit of a deterrent. I hope the management team can reconsider how they approach enforcing these rules and find a more reasonable balance between keeping the community intact and respecting residents’ individuality.

I recently moved into my apartment in July at Uptown, and I can’t emphasize enough how helpful Tamara is. She’s the person who initially made time for me to come tour the apartment and was my main point of contact during the application process. She would answer any questions that I had in a prompt and professional manner.
Since I’ve moved in, I’ve continued to be in contact with Tamara regarding any maintenance I may need, reserving a car port, or questions I have regarding the lease and she’s always kind and happy to help.
I believe having a team of people that may address any concerns you have, and having someone that makes sure any maintenance issues are addressed promptly is very important when renting an apartment. Tamara has served all of those roles and made me very content with my decision to come live at Uptown Ann Arbor!

Recently, I moved to Uptown Ann Arbor, and the experience has been wonderful. The management team was friendly, and Tamara was incredibly helpful. The property manager was very kind, and the maintenance guy Jeff also provided significant assistance. Since the move went smoothly, I was able to start living comfortably at Uptown Ann Arbor. The apartment is located in a great area with good transportation and excellent access to nearby amenities, and it is always kept clean. I am constantly impressed by how the management team and maintenance staff manage the apartment complex.

I’ve been in the process of signing a lease here. Tamara, the property manager, has made everything go so smoothly. From the wonderful tour to being very responsive over email and answering all my questions, I feel well taken care of. I’m so excited to move into this beautiful space!

Apartments in Ann Arbor are in high demand this time of year. Tamara Blevins went above and beyond in ensuring I got just the right apartment home to fit my needs, move-in timing, and budget. She gave me a great tour of all of the amenities too. She expertly assisted me with my appplication and paperwork to make sure I reserved the apartment and got my lease signed. Great and very responsive renter service!
