Way 1 is the main Chinese supermarket in Ann Arbor. The vegetables look clean and fresh. There are a lot of snacks and canned food. Even household and toiletry items can be found in the back of the store. Some drawbacks include higher prices than Hua Xing Asia Market in Ypsilanti. Hua Xing is much larger. The service here could be better, although rude service is also common at other supermarkets like Hua Xing and 168 in Madison Heights. Way 1 is not the best Chinese supermarket, but if you're a student, this is a convenient place to buy Asian groceries near the University of Michigan's North Campus. If you have a car and time, go to Hua Xing for a wider variety of produce at lower prices.

Has many variety of food. The produce is fresh and the prices are not bad. Can't ask any questions to people that are stocking items. The store could use more cashiers. Could be little cleaner but overall the selection is great.

I only go to this store for fresh vegetables and asian kitchen items. My complaint is the store is a little dirty and smelly and considerably understaffed.

Decent selection and great prices for the area, but they do place expired food on clearance, so check every label just to be safe! Staff will swap bad produce without question, which is helpful.

Sketchy place. Lots of expired food being sold. They will claim it's an accident. Avoid avoid avoid.

Checkout lanes are super SLOW and they only have one lane open. That’s my biggest beef with this establishment!!Having said that, they carry all your Asian food items that you’ll ever need. This place is my go to place for sauces, meat - especially pork belly. I like that they have regular (whole) and ground, which is great. My go to place even though there’s an Asian store near the house.

This supermarket is only for maximize its profit, do not care whether the food they sell are good or not. In the past, we bought meat and fish that smell really bad when we opened the package. Here is another example, the oranges we bought looks great from outside but many have some kind of diseases make them not eatable as shown in the pictures. I am really pissed off!

don't buy their TOFU in plastic container, those are out of date(but label saying couple weeks due), but after I opened the cover, inside water is sticky, all TOFU soured. This is 3rd time I bought TOFU, never again. Please see other negative posts regarding expired label on food too(my case is date is far away to be expired but food is already rotten). Selling expired food or food rotten with wrong expiration label is bad business.

The location is great, not far from highway. Parking should not be a problem. Decent size of store with variety of Asian food, especially Chinese food (vegetable, rice, drinks, dried food, noodles, meat, bakery, etc.). Quality of products is generally good.Price is generally slightly higher than other great Detroit area Chinese supermarket, understandably with its location next to University of Michigan. One of my main complain is that the restroom is dirty and smelly (shelf area are generally better). And staff is under-staffed both at re-stocking and check out.

I’ve bought expired food many times and found it amusing when the salesperson blamed the manufacturer for their mistake. It's the biggest joke I've ever heard! ?
