I have been with Meemic for nearly 15 years, and what has happened recently is nothing short of unacceptable. Because of repeated errors and mismanagement, Meemic retroactively canceled my insurance without telling me for 25 days. For almost a month, I unknowingly had no insurance coverage, only to find out much later—long after I could have corrected the problem.
This all started with a simple address change, which somehow resulted in Meemic sending me six different plan changes and conflicting bills. They even admitted in writing that there had been errors in rating my policy, promised a credit, and then instead issued a cancellation notice. To make matters worse, the cancellation notice didn’t arrive until weeks after the effective date, leaving me exposed without coverage.
As a result of Meemic’s incompetence, I have now been forced into the Michigan Assigned Risk Pool, paying higher premiums and suffering the consequences of something entirely outside my control.
It feels like AAA, which owns Meemic, is running the company into the ground. They clearly don’t care about long-time customers, and their actions have caused me financial loss and serious stress.
If you value stability and honesty in your insurance company, look elsewhere.

Save yourself the hassle now and choose another insurance provider. We bought a new home in August and got a home policy through Meemic. They i formed us on 9/4 that due to the age of our roof (15 years) they would be dropping our coverage effective 10/4. We decided to bite the bullet and put a new roof on but couldn’t find anyone to do it in that timeline. We have it scheduled for November and Meemic is refusing to extend the deadline and dropping us anyways. Pulling our home and auto insurance now because that’s just crazy.

Had a total loss, and was waiting on a check that was supposed to be overnighted. The check was lost. I requested for the check to be picked up with I was told was an alternative option in Auburn Hills. Then I was told that's not an option, and that the check was overnighted again. It's been 3 days and the check still has not been sent. There is no tracking information available. if you try to call or text Grace does not text you back for days. Never returns my phone calls and this whole thing has been a nightmare. They picked up my vehicle a week ago and have it in their possession but have not received a check. What a terrible way to do business!! The communication is absolutely terrible!!

Terrible customer service, multiple chargers no one could give me an answer for. My agent never responds to emails and is always out of the office.

One of the Memmic customers hit my car and I filed a claim almost 15 days back. Not even a single person cared to call me back. I tried to contact and left a message, but no one will call back

I was charged two premiums in one month. I paid seven premiums for a six-month policy, but no one has been able to explain why I was charged this amount. I was told they mailed something to my home, but they can't seem to produce that documentation to email me. Additionally, Kerry was very rude. I left a message for a supervisor, but I have not received a call back. I would like an itemized invoice explaining why I had to pay seven premium charges for a six-month policy. Also I have been with Meemic for over 9 years. My loyalty means nothing to them.

I have been with Meemic for years. I was shocked when I went online and saw a crazy increase in my premium. I called and spoke to an agent, he said they didn't receive my COB form. I asked him to stay on the line to verify that it went through. He received it within moments. I wondered if he would then change my premium back. He said NO because they have a new policy that states policies cannot be changed until after they have received the first payment. I was only a few days into my reinstatement. He apologized and said I was caught between a rock and a hard place. I was furious. I called and got quotes from other companies. I called back and asked how much I would owe for the days I was covered and I wanted to cancel. He also apologized because they cannot cancel policies without first getting the first payment. Neither agent I spoke with cared either way if I canceled my policy. So I called my bank and paid 25 dollars to stop Meemic from ever taking money out of my account again. They can bill me for the money I owe. They cannot force me to keep their insurance. They don't care if they have my business or not. I stayed with them way too long.
UPDATE- I paid 25 dollars to stop Meemic from taking from my account...They took money under a different company name... I am disputing this as I did not authorize.. crooks.. horrible... educators my eye... they are crooks do not do

I have been with Memic for quite awhile. There have been some favorable interactions with customer service. I have a new problem and will come back and advise how they handled it.

As a retired school administrative assistant, I was pleased to find out about 25 years ago that there was an insurance company, founded by teachers in 1950, that would give me great service for a reasonable price. During the years, I filed claims with no problem, but now they have joined the ranks of other insurance companies that find any excuse to deny claims. After paying Full coverage on a used car for four years (for a hefty price of $9,600.00), the adjuster looked at it for 2 minutes, said he wouldn’t cover it, and rudely left. I feel sorry for any other poor smuck like me that falls for this scam. They are a ripoff!

Absolutely horrible. We had them for 4 years and in that time, they have zero integration with any systems. We cancelled our policy and had them for one month in our last renewal. We were then told that they required us to do an audit that will take us roughly 8 hours to complete. When told we had cancelled the policy, we were told there would be a $2000 non compliance fee (extortion). We completed the audit. We've switched to Square and have had zero problems. Do yourself a favor and avoid these scam artists at all costs.

Meemic advertises towards teachers and educators. My mother has been a teacher for 28 years, our experience with meemic has been nothing but terrible. Incident occurred in May and it is still on going. Their initial offer for total loss was substantially less than market value combined terrible customer service. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for insurance.

I don’t have their insurance, but I had the misfortune of putting up with one of their reckless drivers hitting me and destroying my car where the other driver was at fault in the police report. Meemic employee JASMINE harassed my wife because she was the name on the insurance policy. JASMINE called her THREE times in two days for no other explanation than getting her to confess I was at fault for the accident. Mind you, my wife has a job where she needs to help people in critical situations, and JASMINE would not let up on the situation. It got so bad, we had to call my insurance, State Farm to call Meemic on our behalf to tell them cut it out; and that we were about to file a police complaint of harassment if they called back one more time for no reason.
Then came the time for Meemic to pay up the money. I was owed $3,000. But Meemic gladly told me that because they found a body shop in rural GEORGIA that would do the work for $2,600, they would only pay out that much. They shorted me $400. Who would drive cross-country to get a car that is totaled fixed by a body shop?! The way Meemic presented this news was as if they were doing me a huge favor; and I should be grateful they found a shop 1,000 miles away that can get my totaled car fixed for $2,600!
If you don’t want to get harassed, manipulated, and short-changed, pray to the insurance gods that the person who crashes into you has not used Meemic. I only dread to think what happened to the woman who was at fault for that accident who had Meemic.
You owe me $400 you charlatans!

Have you ever talked to one of those automatons posing as " customer service" agents? Meemic has one, Ms. Robert. HORRIBLE. Belligerent, uninterested, Wow. Their service is rated as a 3.2 along with their high insurance prices, but really, their management should do something to fix their problem. But it's not my problem - we canceled the policy. I'd steer clear of this agency.
